About Me

born and raised in Canada, i moved out to London in order to rectify what was clearly an oversight... i was supposed to be in England! well now i'm here, and all is well. i'm heavily involved in music... black metal is my main passion, but any of the extreme forms of metal are meat and drink for my dark soul. i play in a band called Bloodwork, which is an extreme metal band that mixes black metal, death metal, doom, drone, chaos and a bit of thrash. by way of faith, which is actually what i'm all about, i am a follower of Christ. don't get me wrong, i despise religion, but then i think religion is humanity's lame attempt to manipulate God (or gods) through ritual. i believe religion enslaves all humanity wrongly. we were meant to live and breathe and walk with our Creator, not attempt to appease Him through constant fearful penance or twist His arm through nice-sounding prayers. the one is the foot of the oppressor on our necks, the other is the sickening arrogance of the pharisee. on a sidenote, atheism is a religion as well in my view. i believe Jesus came to set us free. free from animal instincts that control us (thus the freedom not to harm ourselves and others through sin) and freedom from the curse of the law. ultimately the freedom to be loved and to give love. love is all that matters in this world. and pride is the root of all sin. Jesus revolutionised the world. by His words, power was taken from the oppressor and given to the humble and downcast. even when the church forgot it's place in the world and became domineering and hypocritical, His words still changed everything when people put them into practice. ...And His words still live and breathe today. should also mention the sort of 'church' group i belong to. the website is www.asylumlive.co.uk, i think that should be pretty self-explanatory

My Interests

Music! playing, performing, listening, whatever.meeting up with friends at clubs, pubs, parties, for hikes, just chillin', movies, listening to music, reading, whatever. actually, i like to do just about everything (barring reading) with people. quite sociable, actually. except when i'm not.travelling!!!!!!!!!!!!!! might be doing the Trans-Siberian Railway next year.video games (scary ones, RPG's, FPS', adventure, cute Nintendo games, etc. XBox is evil)books (primarily fantasy, but also sci fi) manga! anime! role playing games! PPS i have a DS. it rules! other people should get them and we should trade friend codes for Mario Kart, Metroid Prime Hunters and Animal Crossing!

I'd like to meet:

people who like to think differently from the world around them.

Music:

Extreme Metal (Black, Death, Doom), proper Industrial, fake Industrial (ie EBM, but only if it's dark), dark moody acoustic music, sometimes lounge jazz, if you can believe it! Bands: Emperor, Darkthrone, early Burzum, early Arcturus, Suffocation, My Dying Bride, SunnO))), Khanate, :wumpscut:, Mental Destruction, Sanctum, Immortal, Sympathy, Aeternus, Ildjarn, Xasthur, 49 Hudson, Carpathian Forest, Mayhem (de Mysteriis era), Gorgoroth, U2, Frost Like Ashes

Movies:

i love anime, fantasy, sci fi, comedy, action, thriller, horror, the occasional romance (ie subversive stuff like Before Sunrise), supernatural, whodunnit. basically everything BUT western. and even there i liked Tombstone.

Television:

big fan of cartoons, and British comedy kicks ass. i HATE HATE HATE 'reality' tv. it needs to die!

Books:

LOTR, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Wheel of Time, The Belgariad and Mallorean, things in that vein. Otherland was good sci-fi/fantasy as well. PG Wodehouse was great for subtle, light humour. Graphic novels are great as well. Manga such as Love Hina and Ranma 1/2 are amazing! all i've read of Neil Gaimon, especially his great short stories in Smoke and Mirrors. Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller is my favourite Christian book, full of great stories and musings on Christian spirituality from someone who thinks alot like i do. not to mention how funny it is as well!

Heroes:

Jesus, St. Paul, St Francis of Assissi, Conan (the Barbarian, not O'Brien, as funny as he is)
