No Lesser Beauty has new faces and a brand new attitude. The band has been working hard in Jackson since late 2001 trying to figure out a unique sound, grab the attention of the local/regional scene, and, in general, trying to have fun doing what they love...playing music.
To some extent, the band accomplished a good deal of notoriety throughout the state, steadily gaining fans and numbers at their shows.
NLB enjoyed opening opportunities for such bands as
Breaking Benjamin, Atomship, Thornley, Element Eighty, The American Tragedy, and many others. Not to mention,
NLB shared the stage with many great local and regional acts, even forming what essentially was a touring partnership with fellow rockers
Absence of Concern in both band's earlier years.
But as
NLB grew, dissention between the original four members did as well. Personal issues led to the departure of original drummer
Don Keeling, and not too long after his departure, musical differences saw the depature of original guitarist
Daniel McMillan.
"We were left in a spot where it seemed like we had to rebuild from the ground up," stated singer/guitarist
Jeremy Rainey.
And rebuild is exactly what had to be done. The addition of drummer
Trent Lewis and guitarist
Russ McGuffee offered a spark of rebirth, but even this was short lived. Not long after their addition, Trent and Jeremy embarked on a regional tour with a country act
Crews South stalling the band once again, leaving even it's existence in limbo.
"When we [Trent and Jeremy] returned to NLB, things were just different. I had a different outlook on music. I wanted to return to having fun with my guys and the songs, which for some reason seemed to have fizzled. So we got back together, and 'Strip It Down' was born," says Rainey.
And with
"Strip It Down" the band saw a return to the scene with decent authority. Unfortunately, again, this would be short-lived as Trent parted ways with the group leaving
NLB on an indefinite hiatus as they struggled to find a way to keep on going.
Skip forward a few months, a few tense moments, and a lot of soul-searching, and you have the re-vamped
NLB With their first
full-length album in recording (with a release date of late 2008), and with a new and dedicated drummer
Bernie Brenneman, the boys are back and as motivated and driven as ever.
"We needed the time-off," states Rainey, "We realized that we are family first and had to get back to really enjoying doing the music together, which I think we have accomplished and more. We're having a great time again and really enjoy working together and producing our music!"
With a solid drummer backing up the rhythms,
Bernie Brenneman for those not keeping up,
NLB is working hard to get the album finished and ready to get back out on the stage.
"It's a new
NLB. A better, stronger, and much more fun one!" smirks Jeremy.
Get ready to party and rock hard....
NLB is back.
