ABOUT ME:
Hi! I’m Sara Jackson. I am currently a solo artist looking for a record deal. (All of my songs are cover songs that I did to showcase my vocals.)
Singing is my passion- It is what I live for, and thanks to Myspace I get to share it with you guys! I started singing around the age of 13, and have been hooked ever since.
I love to sing different types of music; classical, rock, R&B, pop, you name it. Right now I’m focusing on opera; I’m taking lessons, and I really enjoy it. My goal right now is to major in music and have a singing career; if I could pick specifically, I would love to be in a symphonic/gothic metal band and stick to the operatic vocals.
EXPERIENCE:
I got my start doing musical theatre- I’ve been in around 30 musicals, and loved every minute of it. I’ve gotten the lead in many musicals, playing some fun roles that include Cinderella (in Cinderella), Princess Jasemine (in Aladdin), and Ruth (in The Pirates of Penzance.) I was also a part of COPs, or Chapin Onstage Performers, for 6 years, and toured with them over the summer. We performed in many places, including The Sovereign of the Seas Cruise ship and The Koger Center for the Arts.
In 2006, I became the lead singer of hard rock band "Bad Habit," which gave me the opportunity to sing at various venues, and even opened the door for me to sing some paid gigs.
As far as training goes, I’ve had vocal coaching as well as operatic vocal lessons (which I’m taking now.) I have also been a part of several choruses, musical theatre groups, and a show choir.
NOTE:
Every song that I sing (particulary Just Missed the Train) is dedicated to Stephanie Shipley. She was not only my best friend, but she was also an AMAZING, soulful singer who went well before her time.
