++ In the movie 'Maria Full of Grace' when the main character first gets to New York, she's walking down a street and in the background is a big advertisement for 'The L Word'.
++ Scott Bairstow was originally cast as the male lead , but was replaced by Eric Mabius soon after allegations of sexual assault on a minor were made against him in 2003 (he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of second degree assault on 9 December 2003).
++ All episode titles begin with the letter "L".
++ The pregnancy of Tina Kennard in the show was filmed around the real-life pregnancy of actress Laurel Holloman.++ Ossie Davis had a recurring role as the father of the Jennifer Beals' character. In the second season, Davis filmed scenes that showed his character becoming ill, then dying. Davis then died before his final episode was broadcast, so that episode was dedicated to him.
++ Shane (Katherine Moennig) is sometimes seen wearing a t-shirt with the word "GUSH". Leisha Hailey (Alice Pieszecki) is/was in a band called Gush.
++ The show was renewed for a second season one day after the pilot episode aired and it was renewed for a third season before the second season even began airing.
