About Me

...we were meant to live for so much more, but we lost ourselves...
I'm a writer without time to write and a traveler without money to travel. I'm not a "wannabe" be rather a "gonnabe". Most people think I'm a flake at first, but that's just my radiant dorkiness in all it's shining glory. I have an intense drive to make a living as a screenwriter, and for now I'm dreaming about my future while I finish my last few credits of college. I have a passion for people so I work in the recruiting industry-- where I get to be creative "some of the time", but I yearn to work closely with the entertainment industry.
I have an awesome fiance who pushes me to shine at me best. He is the milk to my cookie...we have been strong for over ten years now- since I was 14 and he was 17- and let me tell you how fun it is to grow up with your soul mate! I'm dorky, passionate, creative, ambitious, emotional, sarcastic with a stronger grip on the clouds than on reality. I have a unhealthy fascination with the state of California. I cry eveytime I hear the "Sunscreen Song". I'm more obsessed with my hair than Uncle Jesse on Full House. I've never smoked a cigarette. My drugs of choice are Starbucks lattes and Kendal-Jackson Cabernet-- and when it comes to either I could use an intervention. I'm knowing, yet remain pure and unadulterated. My strong ambition and passion take second place only to my unique creativity. I love learning, especially about our past-- mythology, history, humanities, ect. I am sponge and my pores are deep and vast. Thinking is fun! I live to create...visual, written, beautiful, ugly, different things. I don't take myself seriously. I hate the idea of settling. I'd rather be a Poe than a Suess, and I'd rather live on the beach than in the city. I'm morally conservative, yet logically liberal.
I'm a peice of artwork in continuous change without a specific genre. Hi, I'm Kahlin.

Luv my sistah!!

My Interests

First and foremost-- writing! I am a total Stephen Glass-- without those pesky fact checkers (or a six figure book deal). Basically-- I like to tell stories. That pretty much ended my pursuit of a journalism career.
It's my childhood dream to write movies-- and since I have not acknowledged my maturity-- the dream lives on!
I want to make people laugh, cry, think and react. It's more of a selfish thing really-- I just really love the feeling of capitvating a person(s) with a fabulous tale.
When I was six I would write stories I'd have my dolls perform. Since my 'act' never made out of the livingroom, I took up short story writing in middle school and eventually playrwriting in high school. In highschool I won the honor of best stageplay in a playwriting contest and had that story produced. Being the dramatic goof-off that I am, the natural next step was to take to the camera-- and I began making short low-budget films to share with friends and classmates.

I've partially lost that "nothing can stop me" attitude I used to assume about becoming a bona fide Hollywood screenwriter due to the ho-hum of vanilla reality and responsibility. It is the worst suck of sucks. Nonetheless, I am ambitious and still dream of the day I sit in not so quiet dark of a movie theater enjoying audience reaction to something I wrote.
What else interests me? Pretty much anything involving the beach, adult beverages, chill music and fabulous conversation.
I love the humanities and religions and learning about cultures of different places and peoples. I'd steal a goat and five chickens to spend a year or so just traveling the world and learning all about the past, present and future human journey and writing it all down.
I can't watch enough films. Comedy, drama, horror, romantic comedy, action, foreign, indy.. bring 'em all on! I am well known to every employee at the local Blockbuster.
Randoms: Prank calls, singing in the car, talk radio (loves me some Dr.Laura, Michael Savage, Neil Bortz, Glen Beck, Clark Howard, Rusty Humphries, Jerry Doyle, Bill O'Reily...even a little Hannity now and then...yes, I am a conservative...no,I no longer affiliate myself with any parties) Making crappy low buget videos, history, current events, news(I get obsessed with the news like people do with celebrity gossip),live bands, practical jokes, Sleeping in, Shopping (duh, I am a girl!),introducing myself as someone I'm not and seeing how long I can keep up the act, hanging out with my just as dorky and equally wonderful fiance,Brian, and genuinly just enjoying life.
I'm one of those "nerds" who will tell you to live in each moment of the day. It's so true though-- enjoy life, otherwise you'll miss it.
