About Me

MyGen Profile GeneratorAs many a hardworking cover band will testify, you can only play ‘Wonderwall’ at so many wedding receptions before the urge to create a unique sound of your own takes over. And, so it was that three musicians finally decided to leave the vol-au-vents and matching waistcoats behind and create something more personal. After an intense period of writing new songs began to emerge, combining the experimental tastes of Ian and the catchy melodies of Adam’s pop roots. Avenues music displays a passion for the craft of songwriting and a desire continually to push the boundaries, resulting in a full, dark sound with a colourful splash of classic pop. It’s clearly a recipe for success. Following a year–long UK tour last year, taking in venues such as The Troubadour, Leeds Cockpit and Manchester’s Night & Day, the band returned home in triumphant style with a storming Derby gig. Work began straight away on the debut album, on which the band enlisted the help of Matt Ellis (Eternal, Louise, The Gliteratti, Lost Alone). With the album now complete, Avenues are hard at work adding the finishing touches to their summer 2007 shows, which will feature new songs, new band members and undoubtedly a few surprises. As Ian says “We don’t have a ‘plan’ for Avenues. We’d rather take a few chances, see what happens. Things are going great right now, and we’re looking forward to going where the music takes us. We just love writing and playing together. For us, that’s the most important thing.”With a fan base growing every day and more new, innovative music on the way, one thing is certain. The road ahead looks bright for Avenues
