Saboorah Lopez

Saboorah Lopez is a local Arizonian pop artist who has music ingrained in every aspect of her life. She began writing poetry over eight years ago and writing music lyrics for over six years. She noted in a recent interview “My mother encouraged my interest in music. I recall her playing the piano and asking us to sing along. I also recall my mom’s long lectures and it is those lectures that inspires my poetry today “. Saboorah has performed various venues where she received raving reviews. Some of you may recall seeing her performance in 2007 at “The Sets “where she performed “Hello Hello”, “Frog” and “Happy”. “Hello Hello” is a pop tune where she encourages girls’ by saying “Let’s get to core of it all, I heard the other girls are just shiny peels, rotten apples on the inside trying to perpetrate, he’s got his princess don’t hate…” In other words, beauty is only skin deep and you are elevated to the rank of princess (e.g. a good girl). Conversely, during her performance of “Frog” Saboorah sings about the shiny pill and the rotten apples, that is the girls who are bad. She concluded her performance with a reggae tune titled “Happy” an upbeat song filled with anticipation of joy. Where she says “Come on, come with me, come roll… with me, come see, see the new you and me… She has performed at the Arizona State Fair and Border Books where her audience has commended her for her outstanding performance.
