HYDRA: A Brooklyn bred hip-hop group consisting of brothers LR Blitzkrieg, Wild Child and long time friend GMS, Hydra has been making music together since grade school.
GMS and Wild Child met in 5th Grade and collaborated on their first song - a homework assignment for school. By Junior High, they had formed a group and began earning their stripes in local contests and talent shows. During a chance meeting with a members of the legendary production team the Bomb Squad, it was suggested that Wild Child's younger brother LR Blitzkrieg also an MC, join the group.
Growing up in Brooklyn, the three MCees strived to surpass the lyrical mastery of their "Golden Era" role models and began to make noise in the New York underground music scene, battling rivals with their crew, The PLAGUE.
For awhile, the three entered as many open mics and competitions as possible, gaining valuable stage experience. They formed HYDRA and began their "official" career in 1999. When it became clear that HYDRA could attract a crowd and easily fill a venue, promoters and club owners began booking them. HYDRA performed shows in New York at S.O.B.'s, Knitting Factory, the Tunnel, the China Club, CBGB's, Wetlands, Joe's Pub, The Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Lion's Den, Downtime, Pyramid, Marc Ballroom, Culture Club, and the Warehouse just to name a few, as well as Lyricist Lounge events. The strength of their following led them to create STORMTROOPERS ENTERTAINMENT, which produced Hip Hop concerts, parties and events in NYC for several years. Various college and international tours also exposed them to broader audiences. The group's lyricism, musicality and showmanship developed them a following and has earned them mentions in The Source, Trace, Stress, Mass Appeal, Frank151 & other hip-hop publications.
Wild Child, who went from banging on lunch-tables to banging out beats in his own state of the art Las Vegas studio. He produces most of the tracks for HYDRA and writes songs and makes beats for other successful Hip Hop and R&B artists as well.
With songs that tackle numerous themes and topics and utilize eclectic musical influences, the group maintains a style that anyone can relate to that can be appreciated by true Hip Hop fans worldwide and a mainstream audience. The group is already involved in many areas of entertainment, being featured in movies, theatre, commercials, print ads, websites, television shows and radio. Recently HYDRA had the opportunity to collaborate with companies Defind Mind, Kaplan and powerhouse publisher Prentice Hall on two educational projects. Combining audio and written versions of specially written and recorded songs with study guides and textbooks, HYDRA's music is being used by over 3 million students nationwide.
With MCMI Inc., HYDRA is taking it to the next level, with their multi-level company, which deals in music, media, clothing and events.
