Post Industrial Folk Noir
Hello. We are Corpus Callosum. Please allow me to tell you about us.
Our songs feature catchy melodies, menacing junkyard beats, and folky nostalgia. Our sound juxtaposes more traditional instruments, such as banjo and accordion, with many found bits of miscellany, such as pickaxe heads and goat bells.
Musicians accross a wide range of styles and time periods have influenced our work. Dax and Avery drew moods and ideas from Neutral Milk Hotel, Tom Waits, and Einstürzende Neubauten, to name a few. When Zach joined the band, he applied his jazz background to the bizzare percussion. I came in to support the songwriting and arrangements with my taste for classical and electronic music.
To date, we have completed one full album and one EP, both self-recorded and -released. A new album, half recorded at home and half professionally produced, is in the works. We are seeking a label to distribute our records.
By the way, the name "Corpus Callosum" refers to the band of nerves binding the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Its normal function is not quite as interesting as what happens when it is severed…
Thank you for your attention. Enjoy.
Stevie
