AROMA DI AMORE have always been outsiders, even within the confinement of the alternative rockcircuit. Their peculiar blend of raw guitars, electronic rhythms, Dutch lyrics and unconventional songwriting was too far out for rock audiences in the eighties. Those however who, without prejudice, would lend an ear to the band's music, discovered an energetic, authentic and uncompromising collective that stood above all trends. Though the band’s popularity was far beneath that of similar bands as Arbeid Adelt or Neon Judgment, nowadays they are considered as one of the most important rockgroups of that era. In 2004/2005 they re-united for a short but highly successful Belgian tour. In 2008 they are about to release an overview-compilation, followed by a new tour at the end of the year. The nucleus of AROMA DI AMORE consists of Elvis PEETERS, who in an inimitable, possessed way delivers his highly original lyrics, Fred ANGST, guitarplayer mastering the heaviest riffs as well as refined tapestries of sound and Lo MEULEN, who lays the bassfundaments for most of the AdA songs. Furthermore, the line-up varied throughout the band's carreer with: - H.K. (Guitar from 1982 until 1983) - Andrea SMITS (Keyboards from 1982 until 1985) - Wout DOCKX (Bass from 1987 until 1988) - Dick VAN HOEGAERDEN (Drums from 1993 until 1994) - Ludo VERVLIET (Bass from 1993 until 1994) and the late Frits DE CAUTER (Saxophone from 1984 until 1986) contributing to the music.
