About Me

In Sweden most people are careful to caterogize music in very narrow partitions. With a band like the Grapestompers this won´t be so easy. “Sure, they are a rockabilly band”, some might say. Others will call them a rock n´ roll band, whilst some just may say country-rock.. Country-fried Rock n´ roll delivered with the raw energy of rockabilly might be the answer if you’d ask the band members about it. Anyone could hear that the many great artists from the 40ies and 50ies have influenced the band, but you could also tell that there’s some modern music in the bands reference archive. Since the start in 1998 the band have done some hundred shows on very diverse venues, spanning from very small clubs to big festivals. Most of the gigs have been in the southern parts of Sweden, but a couple of tours in Germany, Denmark, Norway and England can be put on the highlights list. When playing at a festival in Bremen, Germany, the band met Darrel Higham, who just could not believe that a band of this calibre didn´t have a CD out. It was decided that something had to be done about this and before long a deal was set up with Foot tapping Records. The bands debut CD ”Swingin´& Swayin´” got recorded in top speed and released by the end of 2003. The CD sold very well and when the band visited England in the spring of 2004 it was decided the next CD was to be recorded immidiately.Time got sceduled and Darrel Higham flew in to supervice the recording session as producer. Four days later a very satisfied producer got back in the plane, eager to let the people at Foot Tapping hear the result. The second CD “This one goes to 12!!!” was released in September 2004. Unfortunately lead guitarist Magnus Elmlund decided to leave the band shortly after the record release, causing an unwelcome brake for the band. After a few months of searching and some gigs with stand-ins a new guitar player was found in Patrik Blomberg. Now, after years of rehearsals and gigs the Band once again runs like a well lubricated piece of machinery – slightly different but definitely in a positive way.CHECK US OUT ON http://www.grapestompers.se/
