Disgruntled Dem

I am twenty-seven years old and reside in Swartz Creek, Michigan. I have a lovely wife, Laina and two beautiful daughters, Alexis, who is four years old and Kaitlyn, who was born in July. I graduated cum laude with an associate's degree in marketing. I am currently continuing my education at Baker College with a bachelor's degree in management. Future academic plans include a master's degree in business administration or in public administration or possibly both.

I am a true-blue liberal and have voted for a Democrat in every election that I have participated in since I was eighteen years old. What does it mean to be a true-blue liberal? Well, I would gladly walk through a furnace in a gasoline suit to elect a Democratic president. Why? Because I believe that my children’s future should be better than our present. I believe that Republicans are turning America into a theocratic, corpo-fascist police state and I am sick of it. We must unite and stand up for our fundamental Democratic beliefs. We must organize through social networking, guerilla marketing, and grassroots organization. I believe that we need to build a political infrastructure to put liberals in office…and keep them there. That means recruiting electable candidates, working on campaigns, and getting out the vote. It also means encouraging activists to step into positions of power in the Democratic Party…not just sit on the sidelines and complain. At the same time, we need to actively protect the democratic process; voting irregularities orchestrated by the Right are a threat to American democracy. Remember, for the past few decades the Right has generated most of the passion and energy in American politics, liberals have sat passively by, watching as right-wing radicals have stood, jumped, yelled, and cursed us out.

I hold a particular distain for the Religious Right. Conservative Christians are the ultimate form of hypocrisy. Does this mean that I hate all Republicans? Of course not. I believe that liberals and conservatives are both striving for shared values such as liberty, equality, individualism, respect for the common person, democratic consensus, justice and the rule of law, patriotism, optimism, and idealism. However, Republicans are too stupid to realize that they are trying to achieve these shared values with erroneous conduct. Therefore, I believe that Republicans, especially Conservative Christians, are scumbags…and yes, that includes Ron Paul.
