The past is yesterday, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift.

About Me

This is where I'm supposed to talk all about myself and play up strengths, downplay weaknesses, etc. I've never been very good at talking about myself, and as anyone who knows me, I don't downplay anything. As evidenced by the fact that the first year at my company I got the "captain obvious" tax season award, and that I have a "No filter" award named after me.
But back to this profile - I've been called an enigma, funny, crazy, sincere, genuine, pretty much every adjective in the book. Sometimes I'm almost genuine to a fault, as anyone knows I'm extremely gullible =) One thing I don't do is sugarcoat anything, so if you want to get my honest opinion all you have to do is ask.
As for interests, I'm a huge concert fan, recently I've been to Coachella, BFD, Green Day, Jimmy Eat World, and many more. My main music taste is punk, rock, punk/rock, punk/pop, but it can vary wildly from pop to country. Over the last couple months I've seen Rascal Flatts, Kelly Clarkson, and AFI. Upcoming shows include Amber Pacific, Brooks & Dunn and New Found Glory. I'm always active on the concert scene looking for the next show to go to.
Voting is very important to me - my theory has always been that if you don't vote, then don't complain. It frustrates me that this country gets a mere 50% turnout for even presidential elections, and for the primary election on 6/6/06 it was a record low turnout. People in Iraq, Cuba and other communist countries would die for the opportunity to vote in a democratic election, while in this country we take voting for granted, and who knows when that right might be taken away from us.
I also like going to Stanford basketball, A's, and 49ers games. I'm up for any sporting event. My calendar is usually empty except for concerts and sports games, so at the drop of the hat I'll be wherever someone asks me to be - as long it's a fun place to be =) Just hit me up if you want to find out more about the guy behind the guy!
I've always been a fan of hearing about or watching inspirational stories, it makes you realize how fortunate we are for what we have. One of my favorite columns is Rick Reilly's "Life of Reilly" at the back of every Sports Illustrated. He always talks about something interesting to make you think, or a great inspirational story. My favorite story was when he wrote about Ben Komen who was a high school runner who couldn't raise his legs very high due to cerebral palsy, but yet still finished every race dead last, despite falling many times during the race.
I also intently followed Andre Agassi during the last US Open, since it was his last tennis tournament. He was great to watch, I wish him the best in his life. After he lost to Benjamin Becker, he gave one of the best speeches I've heard in a while...
"The scoreboard said I lost today, but what the scoreboard doesn't say is what it is I have found. And over the last 21 years, I have found loyalty. You have pulled for me on the court and also in life. I've found inspiration. You have willed me to succeed, sometimes even in my lowest moments. And I've found generosity. You have given me your shoulders to stand on to reach for my dreams, dreams I could have never reached without you.
"Over the last 21 years, I have found you and I will take you and the memory of you with me for the rest of my life. Thank you."
