About Me
Michael E. Bell, Jr. is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. He attended the public schools of BaltimoreCity and is a graduate of Bowie State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree inBusiness Administration. His next educational goal is to attend Howard University School of Divinityin the fall of 2008.
At an early age, he developed a love for basketball. Like many inner city youth, he felt his callwas to the NBA and to crush the records of many other NBA players. He played like it was hisdestiny. However, God had other plans for him. At the age of six, he gave his life to Christ at theBrazil AME Church, Cockeysville, MD, his father’s first pastoral charge. “I remember thinking, itwas the right thing to do," he recalls. As he looks back, he knows that God then began molding andshaping his personality. He sees that every step, every effort was directed by God to transform him.
He is a member of the Allen Chapel AME Church, Southeast, Washington, D.C. He serves the AllenFamily as Minister to Young Adults. His vision for this ministry is to expose the inner citycommunity of young adults to Gospel that illuminates their lives. In 2007, he presented the churchwith the first in a series of Gospel concerts that will bring national recording Gospel Artists tothe Southeast Community. He is also an ardent Bible teacher who draws youth, young adults, and evensenior adults to his Friday Night bible classes. With his unique presentation style, Minister Bellencourages youth and young adults to be bold in their love and living for the Lord; that they haveall the power necessary to change lives for generations.
In 2005, he accepted the challenge to serve as director of the Allen Chapel Evening Academy, anonprofit after school program that provides assistance in reading, science, and mathematics. Theoverall mission of the Evening Academy is to provide a safe environment where children can come toreceive assistance with their homework, participate in cultural activities, and receive a satisfyingmeal. This program targets families with children in the Allen Chapel AME Church community between 5and 12 years old. Since coming to the program, Minister Bell has increased the number of paid staff,increased volunteers, extended the hours of operation, and established a summer program.
Minister Bell gives thanks and praise to God for his life in Christ, and as he grows in the Lord, heprays for Godly wisdom and knowledge.
