Keith ARC

NEW CD/DVD Available @ CDBaby NOW DL @ iTunes

About Me

Keith ARC has two main missions as a songwriter and musician; entertain people and explore the weird, wicked and wonderful world of human nature. Based in Staten Island NY, he has created a unique and distinctive style of keyboard playing; especially on piano which he has spent most of his life learning and playing. Almost all of his songs have been written on the piano. A/V the new CD/DVD is available now and is a two year labor of love. The songs range in mood from joyful, melodic, bouncy rockers to songs of pain and loss. A great deal of work went into producing this project from the filming and initial recording through the editing and synching into the overdubbing and mix-downs followed by mastering and then after all that there is still the graphics and text and replication. Whewwww... Luckily the music and DVD came out great. The songs have a raw, live feel but also a clear, full, vibrant sound that can only be obtained through studio mixing and mastering. Listen for yourself and see what I mean. The CD/DVD is available to buy at CDBaby and also available to download from digstation. Two FREE downloads are available right here: "It's the Time (which will be featured in the upcoming Relix magazine CD sampler) and "Into the Everyday." Keith will be doing many future appearances but so far he has appeared either solo or with a band at Arlenes Grocery, The Continental, Hogs and Heifers, Snitch Club, Rare, Martini Red, and several other places. He also put together and performed at two benefit concerts last year to help with Hurricane relief.

Add to My Profile | More VideosThe band members that play on this CD were all great and need to be recognized but before I do I want to say that the basic tracks on these songs were recorded live (without an audience) and then overdubs were added. To keep the energy of the live feel, reverb was kept to a minimum and hardly any compression was added except in mastering. This approach has given the songs a raw and powerful sound. Doug (grand pepper of reality) Principato played the amazing guitar and bass parts and recorded and mixed the songs. He is a fantastic musician who has been involved in the NYC music scene since he was 15 years old. He is currently playing guitar in Ari Up's (from the Slits) solo band The True Warriors and he is one of the founders and arrangers and also plays guitar in the excellent free jazz band, "Earth People." Check them out.Peaceful Jon Slackman played all percussion and also the drum track for Hunting. He is a great friend and did a great job laying down the beat during the live filming and recording. He also edited the whole DVD together over a period of several months. He runs a video editing service (mostly weddings) and is currently learning how to play the bass.Joe Bedford plays drums on all tracks except Hunting. He had the hardest job of all because he had to come in after the main tracks were layed down and play to what had already been recorded. He did a fantastic job. He really added a lot of energy and brought the tracks he played on to life. There were a few songs that were especially tough including Yippekayeah which has a few unscheduled speed-ups and slow-downs but he handled them masterfully. You guys are the best. Thanks! The pictures on this site and my upcoming CD/DVD were taken by Mayumi Yoshimaru who is an excellent photographer and works out of NYC.
