In 2007, Onyx Entertainment and Chicago Dance Alliance combined their talents to form one of the most versatile Hip Hop Dance Companies in Chicago. March 1st, 2007 brought forth the birth of C.O.D.A., Chicago’s Onyx Dance Alliance, a professional Hip Hop Dance Company established to train and expose up-and-coming dancers to the professional world of dance. In embracing the rich culture of Hip Hop Dance, we aim to serve as a nurturing environment for emerging choreographers while taking an active role in the development of Hip Hop Dancing as a prestigious and prominent art form.
As a multicultural Dance Company, Onyx Dance Alliance prides itself in the versatility of dance styles within the company. Fully aware of the multitude of dance styles within hip hop, we embrace all styles and forms of dance. With dancers that come from both trained and untrained backgrounds, we can appreciate the possession of raw talent and acknowledge the importance of discipline and training. We strongly encourage our dancers to take advantage of every opportunity to better themselves as dancers and expose themselves to new styles of dance. Onyx Dance Alliance aims to share the common interest of Hip Hop to all people and to demonstrate a mutual understanding and respect for other dancers alike.
