Well folks, this page was last updated in about 2005, so all of the songs and comments are completely out of date - ey! Similarly, I don't check it very often at all, so if you need to get in touch hit me up on the Manifesto profile in my top friends down there... I reckon some day soon I might come up with some kind of witty spiel for this panel but until then think of it as a nugget of my life and work 3 years ago!
Big joy,
J
Growing up in the small village scene of North Norfolk and being dragged round village halls whenever my dad couldn't find a babysitter and had to play in his soul band gave me a very early start with live music, memories of curling up behind the speaker on stage to fall asleep still make me smile...
Started to play the drums at about age 10, then a few years later sold the kit to buy a guitar... Thus began an ongoing mission to take up instruments, and then decide I want to play something entirely different after a year or two... Vaguely embaressing songwriting (and oh god, singing) attempts with a cheesy high school pop punk band Turncoat in the squeaky clean late 90's was probably the main reason why I stopped playing instruments and became a DJ, with limited success in clubs, village halls and fields all over Norfolk...
Necessity (ie no access to decks in Australia) meant that in 2002 I returned to the guitar, although this time around the 90's Pop Punk took a backseat, and then in another turn of fate I drifted vaguely into The Bells, The Bells! to play pretty much anything they's got, with new additions of bass and synth work... My disgustingly fleeting musical interest seems to have finally found a place where it can be satisfied...
In the meantime I've been using midi sequencers since I was 14, and slowly have expanded my knowledge of production and programming... What you see here is the result of all this and more... enjoy!
One beautifully short review of "Smakner" by To Hell With. com :
