I am here for Friends

About Me

I have a knack for being way too honest, at the worst of times... I don't really think that's too bad of a trait, though. I'm a pretty smart fellow, with a lot of opinions about a lot of things (most of which can change, with the right information). Often times, people don't like to hear those opinions, because they think they're offensive. Most of the time that's just because they aren't listening with an objective mindset, and take everything personally, when none of it is intended that way. So I tend to keep my opinions and observations to myself, until someone asks or I just can't take it anymore. I'm a musician (www.myspace.com/thegrainythroat), I'm an traditionl and digital artist (with no motivation to make art... sigh), I'm a poet (with the heart of a scientist), I'm really nerdy (Seriously... Ask me anything about video games, music, or the Lord of the Rings, and BAM! Geek City, here you be).

My Interests

I like music (check out my music at myspace.com/thegrainythroat, or at http://mog.com/theGrainyThroat), I like traditional art (pen & ink, pastels, water color, etc.), poetry, film, seedy bars, whiskey, coffee, good food, holidays that don't involve religion and/or presents and screaming children, people with a genuine sense of kindness and humility, photography, video games, and girls

I'd like to meet:

Jesus, Moses, the first Buddha, the Dali Lahma, Ala, anyone else that can prove me wrong about religion.

Music:

I like jazz, folk, punk, blues, rockabilly, old country (pre 1980's), 50's pop, 60's rock n' roll, just about anything from the 40s, a smidgen of heavy metal, some hardcore from the late 80s/early 90s, progressive music (especially modern progressive stuff), classical music, reggae, a little bit of noise rock, maybe a sliver of R&B from the 60s, indie (you know, they used to call that punk). Some examples of what I like: Pavement, Pixies, Nirvana, Built To Spill, Sufjan Stephens, Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins, Violent Femmes, Bob Dylan, Gordan Bak, Echo and the Bunnymen, M. Ward, Weezer, Modest Mouse, the Who, Bright Eyes, Gordon Gano, Ugly Cassanova, Devendra Banhart, the Velvet Underground (sometimes), Flaming Lips, Elliot Smith, the Clash, the Doors, Don Mclane, Cat Stephens, the White Stripes, the Breeders, Buzzcocks, Queens of the Stone Age, Blind Melon, Johnny Cash, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, David Bowie, the openning song from Kill Bill (who did that? it's fucking amazing), Manson (fuck you, he's talented), Nine Inch Nails, Steven Malkmus, the Shins, Radiohead, Every Time I Die, the Misfits, Clem Snide, Cream, Clapton, John Lennon, and some other stuff

Movies:

Sin City, Fight Club, Lord of the rings, Star Wars, Sean of the Dead, Longford, anything Tarantino, Little Miss Sunshine, Pi, 300, Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, the Big Lebowski, Snatch, Max, Natural Born Killers, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Walk the Line, American Beauty, Office Space, Coffee and Cigarettes, the Trees Lounge, Niagra! Niagra!, American Spleandor, the Aviator, Gangs of New York, Interview With the Vampire, Vanilla Sky, Rain Man, Pan's Labyrinth

Television:

South Park, the Simpsons, the Daily Show, the Colbert Report, House, Scrubs

Books:

Fight Club, the Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Lord of the Flies, Marilyn Manson's autobiography (I wonder how much of that was made up... Hopefully, all of it, otherwise I feel really sorry for that fella), a couple of Kurt Cobain Bio's (they all say the same shit, though).

Heroes:

Anyone who can or has changed the world, for the better.

Genres? Meh... I just like music

I'm going to clear up a few things, before I get into this.1. Music is a subjective pleasure. Everyone is not going to like the same stuff, and just because one person hates something, doesn't ne...
