Band Members: Chip Clofine (bass) - Chip Clofine has been playing one instrument or another since he was a kid. it wasn't until a drummer friend brought him an electric bass and said, "Try this!" that he had found the instrument he was made for. Chip has now been playing bass for almost 20 years, spent many years performing and recording with Relix Recording artists Stackabones, and has shared the stage with such greats as Mickey Hart, Warren Haynes, Hot Tuna, Aquarium Rescue Unit, and The Mother Hips. Chip started Mycosphere as a means to scratch a particular musical itch he carried around for quite some time.Terry Waterman (drums) - Starting out as a Progressive Rock drummer in the early 70s, Terry Waterman proved he was born to play the drums. He found his way to California in the mid-80s to record Prisoners of Dreams with the Rodd Brothers, and has been gracing bay Area audiences with his unique rhythmic styles ever since.Dave Ridnell (guitar) - Dave Ridnell has been a band leader and performed on guitar in clubs across the U.S. and in Japan for over 15 years . He has played live and recorded with members of such legendary funk artists as the Meters, James Brown, and Sly & the Family Stone, as well as jazz greats Melvin Sparks and Brian Melvin. Dave currently studies with Calvin Keys (longtime guitarist for Ahmad Jamal, Ray Charles, and others) and Brazilian guitar master Ricardo Peixoto.Bruce Rinehart (harmonica, flute) - A rogue multi-instrumentalist, Bruce Rinehart has been blowing harp and flute in the Bay Area with dozens of bands since 1990. He worked road construction with neighbors of Doc Watson in the '70s, and later played alto sax, steel drums, and timbales with bands from Flagstaff, AZ to Charlotte, NC. He also met Dave Matthews in the 1998 without recognizing him.Russ Roesner (tenor saxophone) - A long time player since grammar school band, Russ has played wind instruments for most of his life. In addition to composing and playing music for independent films, Russ has been a member of various orchestras and jazz bands and indie bands in the San Francisco Bay Area including: The Human Torches, Tom Dick and Harry, Punk Rock Orchestra, Haight Free Radio, Zen Wall, and Real Super Kingsize. Russ is currently studying Tuvan throat singing techniques with Chirgilchin, a Tuvan Throat Singing group located in Southern Russia, and will be taking part in an independent film this summer with Chirgilchen in Tuva.David Kaffinetti (keyboards) - Best known as Viv Savage from the movie Spinal Tap, David Kaffinetti has been playing keyboards since the late 60s. David played on The London Chuck Berry Sessions recording and recorded five albums with the progressive rock band Rare Bird. Originally from London, he has been living in California since the mid-70s and is currently playing gigs in the San Francisco Bay Area covering blues, R & B, rock, jazz and Brazilian.Aric Rubin (guitar) - Guitarist Aric Rubin, born in Colorado, has lived in San Francisco for over 20 years. He's been playing guitar for 40 years and has, at one time or another, played just about any idiom the instrument offers. He's written for Guitar Player Magazine and, additionally, has been featured in that magazine's Masters Series. His teachers include Dale Bruning, Gary Peacock and Anthony Braxton. Rubin has a Masters degree in Music from Mills College. He has recorded with Anthony Braxton, Elliott Randall, Matt Black (Ninja Tunes) and others. He also was a member of Rubin, Marsanyi and Brown, releasing two CD's of music improvised with computers, synthesizers and instruments.
