About Me

This profile was edited with EXTREME HATRED
This northwest metal band was formed in mid 2005 consisting of Keith Merrow, brother Chris Merrow and Lee Valet . Over the past year they have undergone a few lineup changes coming into what we now know as Dark Cloud 9. With the addition of Sebastian Phoenix on vocals , the band has taken on a more well rounded sound. Their varying musical influences make for a dynamically heavy, yet melodic brand of metal. They try to write music that will appeal to a very diverse crowd by mixing different sub-genres of underground in their compositions. Fans of metal, hardcore, doom or death might all be able to find some part of this bands music they enjoy.
Every member of Dark Cloud 9 is a strong supporter of local and underground music of all types. They are always willing to lend a hand to fellow bands and musicians in the local scene. Whether its just going to shows to show support, or recording a demo for a band that cant afford the expense, they are always down for lending a hand.
Metal is the lifes blood for DC9. They never pass up a chance to write something new or different.
Heres what one awesome fan had to say about DC9-
"Dark Cloud 9 is everything I was in the mood for today: Crunchy, growly, dark but angry and HEAVY. Having a tempo that I could nod my head to comfortably in Akeldama and bang at a much more angry hair speed in Eve's apple. And don't let Elegy for a Friend fool you in the beginning, it's sad melodic tone quickly turns to frustrated anger and blends both during the course of the song. I really like that this band doesn't make you "think" about the song to the point of irritation, but the music is by no means monotonous and definitely not boring!! Each song has it's own riffs, melodies and mood but the band's style is unmistakably present throughout all three. The guitar player is a great mood setter and he uses just the right tones get you all set for the cranium-controlling tempos that the drummer kicks up, all while the bass player easily keeps them well connected. The front man is key to the diversity of the songs with his ability to transition effortlessly from growling to singing to screaming and back again. This is a great band and I have no idea why these guys don't have a CD yet but I can't wait 'til they do. Check 'em out!"
