Yo! Thank youse for visiting my MySpace profile.
I was born in july 1945 and my parents are italian. They didn't give me much support. My dad told me that since I don't have much brains I should use my body, so I became a fighter since I was pretty young.
In 1969 I met Mickey Goldmill, who was a great fighter when he was younger but then became a very crampy ol' man, maybe because he didn't make it big, ya know? I started training in his gymnasium, in Philadelphia, where I could get a job collecting debts for Tony Gazzo, if da guys didn't pay I had to beat them. It wasn't a good job really, but he's italian and he didn't let me down.
I fought in clubs, specially "The bucket of blood" and "Resurrection A.C." to stay in form and make a few bucks. Sometimes it's not easy in the ring, ya know? The guys get brutal.
There in Philly I made friends with Paulie Pennino, another italian american guy who's like a crazy brother to me, ya know? He's not bad but he has a big mouth and sometimes messes things up. Back then he worked at the Shamrock meathouse but always wanted me to find him a job with Gazzo.
Since I saw Paulie's sister, Adrian, I somehow knew from the beginning she would be the woman I would spend the rest of my life with, ya know? But she was too shy, all covered up with sweaters and hats, and not talking much. She worked at a pet shop right across Mickey's gym.
1975 was a good year for me because life gave me the greates of opportunities, ya know?
In november I fought Spider Rico at the Resurrection club and I won by a knockout on the second round, 'cause he beat me hard with his head and I got mad. The next day I found Mickey gave my locker to this guy called Dipper, 'cause he was a contender and I was "a tomato". Mickey and I argued a lot those days 'cause he wouldn't have faith in me, ya know? But those days were amazing 'cause two of the most important things in my life happened: I could go out with Adrian on a date... and I received the opportunity to fight Apollo Creed for the world heavyweight boxing title... me! a nobody from the streets of Philly!
Mickey and I worked our problems out and he became my trainer and manager for the fight. I also had Adrian there helping me out, even moving with me after some problems with Paulie. I also trained at his work beating the meat, which made me popular on TV back then.
