Just looking for some groovey, nutty new friends........... ..

About Me

Long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away…..*ahem* I mean; Four score and seven years ago…..No wait a minute, that’s not it either….Hm-m-m-m, oh yes, what I really meant to say is: Many moons ago; in that quaint little town of Quonset Point, Rhode Island I was born. I am a flower child... (Yes, [hanging my head in shame] I am a love child from the 60’s). My older sister Beth was there to help watch over me, when mom didn’t. Yes, That’s it! Ok, now we’re getting somewhere! I was born Government Property, meaning I am a Navy Brat so I got to travel around A LOT! (That’s why it’s hard for me to make friends).
I can recall a time when I was about 3 or 4 years old, when we lived in Midway Island and the funny Gooney Birds I used to chase all around...no wait a minute, ‘they’ used to chase me all around, away from their nests.
Then we moved to Japan and my parents divorced and my mom remarried (my dads best friend *Yuck!*) and my kid sister was born (I mean, Made In Japan). LOL. My family lived in an authentic Japanese house for the first year, then we moved to Military housing for the last two.
After freezing our butts off for 3 years, my family moved to Portsmouth, Ohio. (It’s on the border of KY). We lived in the middle house (out of 3) on the block, on 2nd Street. Beth and I went to a Catholic School, our teachers were Nuns. The boys played on one side of the playground and the girls played on the other side. *Yawn*
December of 1969 we moved out here to CA, where we stayed in LA for 6 months living with my Uncle Jerry until my parents found a house in San Diego and I have been here ever since. I left home when I was 17 years young and I haven’t looked back! *Yeah!* My first job was with the California Conservation Corps (Alumni) and I loved it so much the I returned to it again 5 years later. Then I went into Job Corps (Alumni) were I learned my trade; Painting. I love to paint!
I’m the kind of person who wants to know “how” life works, so besides being a painter I have been a: cab driver, cashier, pizza maker, driving instructor, maid, security officer, inventory taker, dock worker, t-shirt printer, and a banquet server. 1988 I married and 2 years later I divorced. 1999 an actor I had seen time & time again at the Scifi Conventions I had been going to, asked me out. After 4 years of his persistence I accepted. It lasted only 10.5 months. *Yawn*
2005 I took a trip out to the Grand Canyon. There I hiked into the Canyon and camped out! What fun! I love to drive (road trips) and before I’m 50 years young, I want to “Get my kicks on Route 66” and see this beautiful country!
Then when I’m old and grey, I want to find a plot a land and build a log cabin with a few dogs and cats. (Don’t they just scream COUNTRY?!). LOL.
Christmas 2007, I bought a rescue puppy. Her name is "Sex".
Now that I’ve bored you to tears, I just want to say “Thank You” for reading about a small part of me.
P.S.
Yes, I would love to marry again some day and maybe have kids.

Don't Stand To Close To A Naked Man,

Ronald Reagan Remembered,
Britain's Best Bike Rides,
The Best Bargan Family Vacations In The U.S.A.,
The Tibetan Book Of Living And Dying, AND
Ten Stupid Things Women Do To Mess Up Their Lives.

Heroes:

My Dad and my Grandmother. They have always had a positive influence about life; *rarely* have I ever known either of them get mad. Both were unconditional people, unlike some parents who *play favorites* with their children.
My Dad never raised his voice nor his hands to us girls (Beth and Me) even when we were unruly...(as kids can be). Mom on the other hand, loved to take the belt to us girls whenever.
My favorite memory about my Dad is when I was about 3 or 4 years old; every night before going to bed, he and I would finger paint. (I guess that’s why I became a [house] painter).
After I was done with my picture I would always write “Dad” somewhere on my drawing.
Now my second favorite memory of my Dad is; the look on his face when he opened the train set I gave him for Christmas (2005).
He still plays with it to this very day! You go Dad!
My Grandmother lived to be 83; she passed away a few years ago. I would have love to have seen the *changes* of things i.e. TV's, washing machines, irons and radios in her life time; but at least I got to hear her wonderful stories!
Every Sunday I would visit my Grandmother to help her with her grocery shopping, house cleaning, cooking and/or gardening. When we were done, we would sit and have a cup of tea and she would talk of her days as a child.
I miss having Sunday tea with my Grandmother and I miss my Kitty cat Yarzy.
