About Me

A seed was once planted in the head of a young boy from Jersey. Growing up in the shadows of New York City, his ear was developed to the sound of Hip Hop. He slowly but surely became addicted to it. He was that kid that always had a radio, walkman, Mp3 Player and headphones. He made tapes early on by taping songs from late night radio just like everyone else. When given a set of turntables those nights became him copying the scratches he heard from DJ's like Chuck Chillout, Red Alert and Funkmaster Flex. Those tapes became beat tapes his friends would rhyme over.
As he got older, he gained popularity and started playing parties. He grew addicted to the rush of playing in front of people. This transitioned into college frat parties and nightclubs. After college he quit DJaying professionally. but the addiction was too strong. He knew he had to get back in to the nightlife. On a night out with friends he stumbled into the Shadow. There he met a future friend and mentor. Kevin 'Sugar Daddy' Woodley was controlling the crowd. Under his wing DJ LongArms learned how to play to the crowd he was put in front of.
His Jamaican-American background became helpful in his knowledge of Dancehall. Attending college in the south helped him stay ahead of the curve in the popular dirty south trends. R & B & Hip Hop came naturally. Having lived in New Jersey for most of his life he developed a feel for house music.
All of those elements came together to make DJ LongArms aka DJ LA "The Ladies Advocate".
