MATTHEW CHANDLER is..... Electronic Dance Music.
Welcome guys & dolls to my long awaited My Space page, where in time there should be more sordid but sensible musical info about DJ Matthew Chandler, more monthly, streaming mixes from me and also some notices about where you can come and see me in your nearest town or city. So "Play It Loud" - MySpace!!
Well it all started for me back in 1998 when a friend from college asked me to DJ for him @ his birthday party, he reluctantly backed out @ the last minute choosing a more cheaper & professional option lol, but as he & I already knew that i had a true home grown love for music in general from day one, it was that intrigue & those real roots of exciting passion for electronic dance music (with me) that prompted me to delve into the whole idea DJing, performing & mixing.... and eventually, taking it from a mere, exciting hobby into a bonafide, blessed, and fun loving career.
(And you can't find those roots on the front of a packet of Kelloggs Corn Flakes for free can ya?? LOL)
Growing up, i was always into all styles of music... wether it was popping down to Woolworths / Our Price (to start off with) and buying my tunes normally or from the basement bin lol.... And as a wee lil' Matthew Chandler i didn't know any better lol, and i certainly didn't know sod all about calling certain genres like Rock music, House music or even Trance music by their proper terms!!! I just listened to those tunes which i loved & without knowing what they were or in some cases who they were by, which i guess was the best way overall i reckon!!
At college, i soon discovered HMV as a more decent place to buy my cd's, switched over to vinyl cos i found the edits on CD not long enough lol.. and was totally reborn when it came to discovering new types of genres and different styles of music too.
When i discovered about independant vinyl outlets and especially the odd few places i could buy music from online, i was nearly on cloud nine, so that changed me for the better when it came to knowing and buying more decent tunes.
The artists / DJs which kick-started me into avidly listening & carefully noticing how they put certain DJ sets together on their mix CD's were Paul Oakenfold, Junior Vasquez and John "00" Fleming. For me when i was younger, Judge Jules show on Radio 1 was the best thing since sliced bread and for years there pretty much wasn't a show that went by where i didn't like any of the tunes which he played.. So after looking back, his style, his eclectizm & his honest love of electronic dance music was a hefty influence on me too.
(Danny Rampling & Pete Tongs' weekly shows on BBC Radio 1 plus their Essential Selection Mix cd's were instrumental with me also, so i have to give them a massive credit too).

There are so, SO many producers, DJs, bands & artists over the years which i wholeheartedly respect, admire, have inspired me, bought music from and even in some cases met back stage + bumped into too.. so to name check them all would be a massive feet!! (Phew!!) But hopefully with the thanks of MySpace friends, i should be able to thank each & every one (one day) who has definitely done it for me on the dancefloor as well as the bass / treble bins too!
In 2002 after doing the odd DJing gigs part time for rock bottom or free fees (and all alongside the normal 9 to 5 job routine), something had to give and after releasing what was in my heart and deciding that now is the time to go with a potential career path that has some true meaning to it and not forcing myself to wake up for a "job" each and every morning that i didn't truly like, i decided to ditch the boring retail job and move into dance music full time.
2004 was the year it naturally evolved for me to start knocking @ the production door and i ended up teaching myself the basics about producing & writing songs by visiting various friends studios / home studios & looking + taking notes about what they were doing, the way their sounds were crafted & put together and just really getting stuck into programs like Pro Tools, Reason, ReBirth and Cubase...... and then finally with Ableton last year to really spice things up too!!
(( How good is Ableton / Pro Tools tho?? So many plug-ins so little time LOL!! ))
In 2005, after some very very long hours, i finally created my FIRST ever track which was a total re-working of one of my favourite house tunes @ the time.. (Benny Benassi - "Satisfaction" ) and an all time great and "PROPER" electro tune by (Afrika Bambaataa & The Soulsonic Force) called "Planet Rock."
I decided to go with a blank canvas idea on this one and opted not to go with the most tried & tested "bootleg way" of planting vocal samples over the top of an instrumental & passing it off as something original lol, but decided to layer both the musical parts of "Planet Rock" and the "Satisfaction" vocal together and to try & put it over an (original enough) instrumental backing which was not too cheesy, but had a definite bum shakin' & real oomph factor for the dancefloor too.
Many of the tunes i've created over the last 3 years do have a special meaning with me, so their song titles haven't been too hastily thought of and they all have there own story to tell also.
Since creating my MySpace page on the 15 March 2007, i've come across some wonderful new artists and a fair few amount of folks who are trying to make there way up the music ladder (like myself), so all full credit to them. I definitely like to keep my eye on all thats new, original and fresh, so anyone who wants to join the Matthew Chandler / Salvation Productions team 'n' comment on any of the tunes uploaded, then please feel free to holla back. Good or BAD comments are always welcome!!
Any enquires about future DJ Bookings, remix work or forthcoming releases + productions on Salvation / by DJ Matthew Chandler then PLEASE DO send me a message via MySpace. And i'll try & get back to you a.s.a.p. (And no naughty stuff please "Spacey" users LOL... Well.. it just depends what it is eh!!)
PLAY IT LOUD people & don't dodge the copyright too!!!!
You can LOVE all sorts of "brands," but its whats inside the heart & soul that truly counts!!
So Don't Sell Out!!
