Gillian was born at 5.05am, 1970 in a sleepy town in the west of Scotland under the lightning bolts and rythm of thunder./She graduated from the Glasgow School of Art with Hons in drawing in painting in 1993. Her contemporaries during this period, where Jenny Saville, Craig Mullholland Steven Conroy, Ken Currie and Victoria Morton. Gillian,s studies led her to become heavily involved in the history of the Italian Renaissance and the birth of painting itself. She soon became and still grows to be obsessed with imiagery of the angel and the crucifixion./Upon graduation Gillian delivered herself into isolation, and dissected and repeatedly copied works from the Great Masters as Da Vinci, Michaelangelo, Caravaggio and (Rembrandt+Warhol) and Bernini whose creation "The Ecstacy of St Thereasa" inspiring Gillian to devote her life to art. She spent hours upon months into years of solitude perfecting her technique of attempting to master her art./In 1999 the Scottish Opera hired a private investigator to find the artists whereabouts, in order to use a 5ft oil painting from her degree show of a decayed angel named Parsifal. This was gillians first taste of success in the format of art, beauty and the spectator./Gillian then spent a brief spell at the New York Academy of Art under scholarship, but her dreams of the Big Apple where soon cut short as in the demands of her course. Skeletons and mathematics where employed to capture the figure from life. Gillian prefers to evoke expression through Mannerism in trying to capture the human condition. Finding herself more intrested in the physcholgy of emotion than the vanity of narcism, being well aware that western society is rocked by both issues./Gillian is based presently in north London, Angel (which seems quite apt), and spends her time creating work on themes of darkness and light, and is currently gearing herself up to start her first major collection of finished drawings as works of art under the title "The Science of Heaven",. Presently i find myself compiling all past original art works and selected poetics for their purpose as coming together in the format of a documented piece of my history, as a transcript of image, a manusricpt of emotion creating a visual scripture, a record of memory./"The Literary Autopsy of the Angel Maker", has been in the making for over 10 years and it is a long time coming towards its publication into modern society. As Gillian intends to relocate to the city of angels and fuse all her arts formats into the moving image. Her attributes multiyply as Visionary, and Gillian's aspiration as an artist, is that at somestage in her life that she is gifted enough with sincerety that her work has the power to overwhelm.
