Introducing Los Curita's, a young Tejano Band! Los Curita's are two young brothers out of Fort Collins, Colorado. Juaquin Cura (14) is the lead vocalist and his older brother Juan-Enrique Cura (16) plays the bass. They have one younger brother, Jeremias Cura (age 6) soon to join the band. They were founded by their grandfather, Henry Salas, aka: "Pampo" long-time Tejano musician (guitar), born and raised in Uvalde, Texas. You need to know that Los Curita's Tejano roots come from their grandparents on bothsides. Their founder, Henry moved to Colorado in the 1970's with his wife and children. Check out his myspace, he is their TOP FRIEND! HE IS OUR "DON LUIS EL TEJANO!" It is there, in Colorado, his grandchildren would be born and raised. After Henry lost his 20 month-old granddaughter (Kianna Salas) to cancer in 2000, and then his younger brother also a musician and HIS bass player (Juan Salas) a year later, it seemed as though Pampo would not have the same desire to play music again... That is, until he discovered his two grandchildren had the same gift and talent. Henry, carrying on the Salas family tradition of singing at family birthdays, had Juaquin sing their first song by Jay Perez "On this Day" and had Juan follow along with the bass at his granddaughter's (Jesstine Rodriguez) quinceñera in 2004. It was their, a new generation of musician's was born! The musical legend of the Salas brother's would carry on! Not only does Los Curita's fit Juan-Enrique and Juaquin's name because of their last name, Cura, but they are in-deed a "band-aid" for the Salas family and have helped heal the pain of loss through their music. Accomplishments include Henry who was recently inducted into the Colorado Chicano Music Hall of Fame in 2007. He was recognized for his endless preservation of music. Los Curita's have opened up for Greeley, CO's VERY own, Presidio, Los Garcia Brother's, AmbiXion, Las FLorecita's and Jonny Martinez where Juaquin and Juan played with Grupo Bravo. They have performed at many fairs including last year's '07 TTMA Fan Fair and again this year, 2008. They also had Eddie G. hop on stage with Juaquin and sing his song "Angel" at the Fort Collins Cinco de Mayo celebration. Los Curita's recently played with one of Colorado's top bands, Nuestra Familia, where their founder Margarito Villanueva (RIP) and their Pampo played together for many years in Colorado. Juaquin's voice is said to be the next Joe Lopez or even the next VOZ... You be the judge, stick around as they have a "surprise" heading-out in the next few weeks! Juaquin is also working closely with Lil' Demi (Garcia) for new and upcoming material. Juan-Enrique, although timid, is known for his multiple musical talents! He can play 5 different instruments and Juaquin is right behind! Although Juan-Enrique plays the bass for the group, his instrument of choice is guitar. Hear his talent featured in the acoustic set above, "Tears In Heaven"! Both boys have donated their musical talents by performing acoustic sets to those in need such for ill patients, funerals and even at weddings. Stick around and watch these young brother's grow as they continue to keep Tejano music alive in every generation! Upcoming CD in the works, including a latin-guitar instrumental CD by Juan-Enrique!found this music layout at HOT FreeLayouts.com :: MyHotComments
