VIRAMUNDO

Having been together in various line ups since 1989 VIRAMUNDO have enormous experience and a very large repertoire of material ranging from their own compositions to Brazilian & Latin classics. The varied & eclectic mix of Brazilian music performed by the band reflects the multiregional origins of the band members having performers from Rio de Janeiro, Salvador Bahia & Florianopolis. Viramundo have appeared on Big Breakfast TV, Good Morning with Richard & Judy, London Tonight, the Viramundo dancers have appeared twice on the BBC's Generation Game & the dancers were also featured on an interactive CD from Peter Gabriel's Real World Company.. We've played live on Talk Sport's coverage of the 2002 World Cup Final. Viramundo has played a wide range of festivals, functions & Clubs in Europe including Gran Gran Fiesta, Henley Festival, Notting Hill Carnival, numerous University Balls, functions at the NEC & all top Hotels up & down the country. We've played benefits for Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace, Amnesty International, Target Breast Cancer, Playtex Moonwalk & Task Brasil amongst others. The band has put on the map successful London Latin club nights like Bar Salsa, Bar Madrid, Bar Tiempo, Bass Clef, HQ, Smollenskys, Guanabara, La Finca, Dover St, 100 Club & many others. The band can be available for International bookings having successfully spent a 3 month residency at Singapore‘s top nightspot "Fabrices" where they also recorded TV broadcasts. We have also performed in France, Italy, Germany, Algeria, Armenia, Sweden & Denmark. We were proud to be called to play for Madonna when Versace organised a party for the launch of "Evita" in London in December 1996. And when Mick Jagger wanted a Brazilian band for his Birthday a few years ago the band he called first was Viramundo. Rolf Harris was another celebrity who used the band for his birthday bash. Viramundo have recorded 2 CD's Pra Dancar & Tribal on their own label and band members have recorded with such diverse artists as Basement Jaxx, Alcione, Carmel, Airto Moreira, Stevie Winwood, Mica Paris, Da Lata & Ed Motta to name but a few.
