Port Righ - Celtic harp and bagpipe music

About Me

Port Righ performs Celtic music on Celtic harp and bagpipes. Most of our music is Scottish in origin. We also play Irish, Welsh, Manx, and American traditional music, not to mention sea chanteys and original music. We've been branching out into concertina and whistles lately, as well.
Port Righ is the Scots Gaelic name for the town of Portree on Scotland's Isle of Skye. The name is usually translated as "king's port" but may also be translated as "king's music" or "king's song." Since the Celtic harp and the bagpipes were both historically used to entertain kings, the name seems fitting for this unusual group. (Depending on the dialect, the name may be pronounced "port ree", "porst ree", or "porsht ree".)
