Paul Benavidez began performing for audiences wherever he could at the tender age of 3 in his hometown, Las Cruces, NM. As his vocal skills developed, he became an All-State Tenor in New Mexico during his high school years. In 1991 he was named Starr Seekers Male Vocalist champion in West Texas. In 1997, Paul joined the legendary Latin-Rock group MALO as one of their lead vocalist until 2001. At that time, Paul along with other members of MALO and Sly and the Family Stone, formed a Gospel Latin Rock Group named BUENO.Paul Benavidez is currently fronting San Jose based All-Star Group, "Tortilla Soup", comprised of former members of Malo and Tower of Power. Additionally Paul is also touring the Western United States as a lead vocalist for the group, "Chicago Tribute Authority".Paul has performed in venues such as Arco Arena, The Greek Theater, The Alamo Dome, Paul Theater, America West Arena and The Hop to name a few. War, Tower of Power, Tierra, El Chicano, G.Q., Zapp & Roger, Peaches and Herb, Heatwave, Rene Rene, Pete Escovedo, and Sheila E. are just some of the acts he has performed and shared the lineup with during his career.Above all, I am happy to be the proud Daddy of Mr. Christian DePaul and Little Miss Roselia Lucia. Without them, nothing else really matters.
