About Me

Hi,My name is Ruth, and I am a 51 year old Cancer Survivor. I was diagnosed with Non-Hodkins Lymphoma in Jan. 2007, and I underwent chemo for about 5 months. I have been cancer free since Aug.29,2007.I was born in Jackson,Miss.,and raised in Atlanta. My parents are from Alabama. My family heritage is English, Scottish, Welsh,and Cherokee Indian.I'm divorced and have three adult children, that I love lots. I would love to meet other cancer survivors, and also offer support to others going through cancer treament. I'm happy to talk to you..I also play the flute. I have played classical, jazz, folk and rock music.I especially love all kinds of jazz; vibe,freestyle,fusion,and latin jazz; bossa nova,samba, etc. I have an interest in all genres of music.I am from a musical family. My mother was a music teacher, and was a singer and played piano. She made recordings in the 40's, after college. My niece, Ann Stover is a singer/songwriter in Dallas, TX.My mother's uncle, Jonny Oliver, played the string bass with Hank Williams Sr. in the original Alabama Cowboys. He also played with Red Foley, and the Goss Brothers. (Members in these groups would all take turns and play in each others' groups).Oh, I'm a friend of BILL W.

I would like to meet the Dali Lama in 2008 in Atlanta,Dr. Oliver Sacks,Ray Lynch,Airto and Flora..I also like to meet new friends who like to LAUGH,who are into spiritual growth;People who like the outdoors; I love music and love to meet people involved with music. Irish, Jazz, (Especially acoustic latin, and bossa nova) and bluegrass muscians, cancer patients looking for support, and cancer survivors.......
