It started for me in the local Death Metal scene in 1989/1990 when I was helping my friend Bart out with Extiction of God Fanzine. It was crazy because we were able to meet and talk to some sick people/bands for interviews and reviews. We were able to meet/interview:Mortician, Vader, Immolation, Sadistic Intent, Goreaphobia, Cannibal Corpse, Asphyx, Beherit, Therion, Autopsy, Demoltion, Nuclear Death, Morgion, Vital Remains, Nausea(LA), Blasphemy, Mayhem, Incantation, among others. I also worked at the killer metal record store in LA in the early 1990s,Wild Rags Records. I was able to meet and talk to many local band people,as well as heads from all over the world who would call to talk with Richard C. After that,I guess my claim to fame(if you can call it that, hahahaha)is playing Guitar and doing vocals for GASP,which had an album out on Slap a Ham records(Drome Triler of Puzzle Zoo People yeah yeah yeah,I know, fucking artsy fartsy!)I ended up quiting that band when the direction was getting less heavy, less death/grind,and more of a psych/noise style(I was having fun jamming with my friends in the band, but it just got to a point where my heart was not in it). I have always been a crazy ass metalhead,if you listen to the early GASP songs, you can tell. Before that,I was playing in a Grind band called Malfunction, and at various times throughout the 90s,I played with Phobia and Christfall/Suffering Luna. Also played with the last days of Excruciating Terror a couple times before they broke up for good(R.I.P.)
Now,I sing in a band called GRAVEHILL,check us out at www.myspace.com/gravehill666. Just looking for cool people that share the same interests. I'm very supportive of bands. Ask me to buy a shirt or demo,go to a show, hook up a show for you,put the word out,I'm down.I'm very supportive of the local and actually the overall scene(world wide!) as far as the Underground Metal Scene goes(Death,Grind,Black,Thrash,Speed,Doom,etc...)I want to establish a strong scene/movement here in Southern California.
I help out with METAL HORDE PRODUCTIONS,check that site out at www.myspace.com/metalhordeproductions. We do live local metal shows 2-4 times a month and also help our friend Bart out with his AWS wrestling events. It's total DIY underground no bullshit.Hit us up and come hang at the AWS Shop sometime.

So many people have helped to shape who Iam and what I'm all about throughout my life. And the trials and tribulations that I have been through have made life the learning expirience that it is.Without the hardships,I wouldn't be here right now. That being said,I don't really have "heroes".But I do have people that kick serious fucking ass and have made an impact on my life.My Folks have always been supportive and understanding of the madness of Mike(haha). My brother Tom is the man,he has made himself into a great person his own way, which I admire. My Grandmother Helen Barnes(R.I.P.) was the best, the most generous and nicest person I have ever been around, and the best cook EVER!My Uncle Charles was so cool,he was my "sports angent",and I miss you Unc!My buddy Brandon Livingston,I will never forget you my man,I fucking miss you so much,we had some crazy times, you were one of the craziest and funniest S.O.B.s I have ever been around(Mr. Bruce was the man!)My close friends have also influenced me in ways they might not even know about, thats why they are considered part of my family.Lemmy(enough said!),Cronos(again, enough said!)George Carlin and Richard Pryor for fucking cracking me up over the years,Geezer Butler. The following heads I would like to bring back and have a few brews with:Johnny Cash,Cliff Burton,Bon Scott,John Bonham,Merle Haggard. And hails to the following 2 heads cause without them,I would not be playing heavy music.Chuck Shuldiner for being the father of Death Metal. And Quorthon for creating the sickest and darkest music around,TRUE Black Metal!
