I am here for Friends

About Me

One of those 18 year old male student type things. One of those who has some very common interests. One of those that probably gives themselves too much credit. One of those with slightly less common interests. One of those who is in love. One of those who did not have the intention of becoming so vague. One of those.

My Interests

A bad guitar player, a worse footballer and an uptight, politically-minded student thing. Sees novels, music and films all as art forms and will never enjoy a Hollywood blockbuster nearly as much as a slow, subtle and gritty offering that actually says something, hopefully not just "The CIA is pretty bad" too.

I'd like to meet:

I can imagine the idealised vision that at some point those with an interest in adding you as a frend might evaluate themselves up against this criteria, which the author of the particuar MySpace page has crafted in order to ensure those with similar interests and aspirations find each other, do a bit of networking and the like. Now it's just your optimistic local bands and your friends from other places.

Music:

Radiohead, Bjork, Bloc Party, Muse, White Stripes, Kate Bush, David Bowie, Boy Kill Boy, The Smiths, The Beatles, Cat Power, Joanna Newsom, Jeff Buckley, Richard Hawley, CSS, Klaxons, Maximo Park, U2, The Killers, Supergrass, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Depeche Mode, Simon and Garfunkel, Thin Lizzy, Joy Division.

Movies:

The Pianist TwentyFourSeven. Pulp Fiction. This Is England. Rosemary's Baby. E.T. House of Sand and Fog. Meeting People Is Easy. Forrest Gump.

Television:

I don't really watch all that much TV anymore, and between those programmes I do watch there appears to a gulf between the light-hearted satires and comedies ranging from Family Guy, Have I Got News For You, South Park etc. to more grounded and evaluative news and commentary programming such as Newsnight, Panorama and Question Time.

Books:

Favourite books are probably: We Need To Talk About Kevin. Adrian Mole series. High Society. On Chesil Beach. Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. Angels and Demons.

Heroes:

Whether heroes is the right term or not is a question for debate but nevertheless I'd put down the five members of Radiohead.Colin Greenwood Ed O'Brien Jonny Greenwood Phil Selway Thom Yorke

This is not my tune, But It's Mine To Use.

You may have noticed, or not in all equal likelihood, but I've recently discovered the absolute brilliance of Joanna Newsom, an artist who I discovered in 2004, lost, and then re-found. I can't d...

P.S.

Even Louis Theroux has undertaken a documentary on extreme right-wing views similar to those of Mavis Analogue in a BBC program in a series on America. It included a mountain haven set up in Idaho, na...

I can't remember a time when I have had less hope or pride in the human race. I have utter contempt for my contemporaries, those in power, anyone that I have seen today in fact. Can someone please exp...
