JESSE'S BIO (thanx to Jesse & Peter)"I first started to play bass when I was fourteen, for
no reason other than I had two friends with guitars
and one who played drums, and I figured that I had to
get a bass if I wanted to play with them. Also, it
looked easier because there were only four strings.
About six months later, a friend of mine asked if I
wanted to start a death metal band with three other
people at our school. These were the only people in
our rather small high school who could play
instruments well, so I was already out of my league
with this one. Fortunately, death metal's pretty easy
for bass players.
This band was called Ritual - we had about six songs
and a handful of covers, and played one show while I
was in the band.
Shortly after our first show, a friend of mine who was
going to the local community college brought a flyer
to my high school for a punk band called Section 8.
Since I felt I was ready to move beyond the E string
(the string of choice for death metal), and because
the flyer said "doesn't have to be very good", I
called the number on the flyer, which happened to be
Joey's. Fortunately for me, they only made one flyer,
and since my friend had torn it down, I was the only
one to see it and therefore the only one to call them.
So even though I was still a horrible bass player who
hadn't yet learned to tune, I was able to play Noble
End (the song they showed me on the first day) so they
kept me around.
Unfortunately, they practiced on one
of the same days that I had Ritual pratice, so I quit
the death metal band."JESSE
