About Me
Right Cross was "birthed" by the Uber-Talented, Matt "Guitar" Matice, Drummer, Michael "The Animal" Benge and Guitarist John Williams. Basically, we just wanted to jam and play loud... we got our wish. Our "Marine" Artie Evans, joined to play bass... and the first incarnation of the band was set. Right Cross recorded its first CD in late 2006 thru spring 2007. It was a great experience for everyone, and was good therapy for drummer Michael Benge, mentally and physically, due to a collision with a drunk driver that killed his wife, Jada and severely injured him and his daughters. The tragedy was the inspiration of our song, The Drunk Driver Lived.
Michael, tired of singing duties, said "WE NEED A BIG-TIME FRONT MAN" and vocalist extraordinnaire, Efrain "Rocky" Garza was chosen to front the band. Right Cross played its first gig at Fishlips, November 1, 2007. The fire was lit then. Right Cross found a little "Secret Weapon" this year in Matt Richards, the best guitar player from New Guinea! John Williams, pursuing other interests, is and always will be a member of Right Cross. Without his "wanting to jam"... none of what has become the ultimate brotherhood of rock would’ve happened and to him we will always be grateful.
The music... loud, funky, hard rock... with a patriotic, positive message. Our original tunes are in your face, unapologetic and passionate. Basically, if you don’t love God, America, Freedom, our Troops, Capitalism, Rock and Family Values... hit the road, we’ll help ya pack :| The rest of ya’ll... enjoy the ride with us.
Our cover tunes range from Audioslave, Alice in Chains, AC/DC, Lenny Kravitz, Iron Maiden to Priest, The Police, Los Lonely Boys, Thin Lizzy and Zeppelin. If it’s hard and funky... we’ll play it... if we don’t know it and you want to hear it, we’ll learn it! From private parties to big venues... if you wanna rock... We’ll be happy to oblige. So... welcome to "Cloud 11" because OUR cloud goes to 11!!!!
