THE MAKE MENTIONS:
We've had a difficult time putting ourselves into a category. Jeremy describes The Make Mentions to his mother as, "...angsty progressive folk blues." Brian's Grandmother has been known to flee the room. xine's parents say, "That's nice dear." Nachos keeps his involvement a secret.
We like to create music that we think crosses genres, has atypical melodic moves and chord progressions, and compels the listener to engage in the music in an active way. Our music is rooted in blues, jazz, rock, folk, punk, and a lack of therapy.
We at The Make Mentions think dissonance is a good thing...Brian's Grandmother, however, does not.
We've been asked where the name comes from. The story is actually not very interesting, so we'll clue you in when we come up with an elaborate and entertaining lie.
