About Me

WHY WE'RE HERE:
*The Square is not being closed. But we personally believe that if these policies are put in place, it won't be long before it has to close because of financial problems, or it becomes completely ruined and not worth going to.
*The Square will no longer serve alcohol starting from 8th April (the 7th April is/was the last gig with alcohol depending on when you're reading this)
The Square is being given a 6 month delay before two more policies come into effect -
*The first (as far as we can understand it, because it hasn't been explained very well to us) would mean that over 19s could only go if they're 'guestlisted' to see their under-19 year old relatives play.
*The second (again, as far as we can understand it) would mean that either only bands with members under 19 would be able to play, OR bands would have to 'appeal to a young audience'.
We are currently in talks with Essex County Council and Essex County Youth Service about trying to get the gig nights organised and run by an independent group, like a charitable trust.
SO THE SQUARE ISN'T QUITE DEAD YET, BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP TO SAVE IT
