I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'd like to call myself an activist. I'd also call myself an intellectual, idealist, and conversationalist. My rewarding journey through education and politics is just beginning, and I am grateful for that. It may be cliche, but the journey of life is the best trip I could ever ask for.

Now, some details: I'm a student at the University of Washington, which consumes a great deal of my time. People say I argue well too. I believe in democracy, in our founding American ideals and we're on the fast track to repeating history's mistakes. I'm a workaholic, but besides politics, I'm also known to throw in a few parties, naps, chocolate, drink, trips, work, and friends along the way. I embrace the diversity of life's experiences with open arms.

My Interests

Social & political activism, volunteer work, reading, creating memories with friends, watching TiVo, seeing movies, sitting my ass in front of the computer to waste my life away, running, traveling, dancing, aviation, chocolate, eating out, language & culture, and finding new interests!

I'd like to meet:

YOU if it's possible to carry on a meaningful conversation. I like talking to open-minded individuals who are motivated or passionate about something in their lives. I also appreciate faith, modesty, sincerity, spunk, originality, and humor. I will not approve strangers without a message first; call me old fashioned (sometimes I am) but I'd like to be your friend before I call you one. That's NOT to say I won't try getting to know you! ;)

Music:

I like a huge mix of types, for instance: rock, pop, alternative, hip-hop, r&b, dance, and choral.

For artists, I appreciate: Maroon 5, Goo Goo Dolls, Mary J Blige, Black Eyed Peas, Sugar Ray, Cake, Lifehouse, Switchfoot, Usher, Nelly, Incubus, Alicia Keys, Rob Thomas, Ryan Cabrera, Five for Fighting, Third Eye Blind, Savage Garden, Creed, Christina Aguilera, Daniel Bedingfield, Matchbox 20, Gavin Degraw, Frankie J, Gwen Stefani, Nikka Costa, and Scissor Sisters to name a few.

Movies:

I like ALL sorts of movies. It's the best artistic expression. Some favorites I can think of: Garden State, The Incredibles, Full Metal Jacket, Fight Club, Latter Days, The Trip, Saving Private Ryan, In Good Company, Star Wars, K-Pax, James Bond, The Matrix (Series), Fifth Element, Harry Potter, The Patriot, Spanglish.

Television:

TIVO IS THE BEST THING NEXT TO SLICED BREAD! I love: LOST, Project Runway, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Will & Grace, Family Guy, CSI, NBC Nightly News, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List, and West Wing (I will miss you West Wing and Will & Grace...)

Books:

Anything on the progressive movement. The Audacity of Hope, The World is Flat, On Liberty, The Catcher in the Rye, Don't Think of an Elephant, Flags of our Fathers, Band of Brothers, Fahrenheit 451.

Heroes:

My parents, for two. They have guided me through bad times in their lives and mine. I am forever indebted to them for their courage, love, and perseverance. Thanks, Mom & Dad.

Also...Martin Luther King Jr.

John F. Kennedy

...and Gandhi, Harvey Milk, my parents, and God!

A sad day in WA State history

This was a partly political move, because our judges are elected. That's my bitter feeling. This court ruling denies the widely-acknowledged understanding that gays and lesbians DO NOT choose their sex...

Summertime flies

With all this working, the summer break I had envisioned upon graduation has just flown by. Working 40 hours/week in a rather tiring stock job has made life dull. I need a vacation! I will be startin...

Gradulations!

The last day of school was Friday 6/10. I thought I would cry, since I was reliving all the memories from elementary and junior high school in the last few minutes of class. Knowing that I have gone ...
