Swahili singer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and african music promoter.
Kichaa is making history as he joins the top artists of one of the biggest musical styles in Africa.
Kichaa is one of the pioneers of Bongo Flava. He has recorded with Juma Nature, TID, Mangwair, Ferooz and many others since the late 90s after joining forces with Bongo Records. With the release of 'Mambo ya pwani' in 2001 he received airplay and topped the East Africa charts. This song was one of the first songs to take original african nusic and fuse it with hiphop. His recent performance on the Friday Night Live show was viewed by over 100 million people in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.
He is currently working on his forthcoming album, which amongst others, will feature Proffessor Jay, also a big name in Africa. On his new single, Kichaa boasts of his many musical achievents from performing alongside some of the biggest African artists, to playing violin in the legendary Taarab Orchestra from Zanzibar called Naadhi Ikhwani Safaa (an Orchestra that blends Arab and Swahili styles). The Song also describes his experiences living with the Maasai where he learn't the Maasai language and took part in all aspects of Maasai life. He still has a large herd of cattle which are being looked after by members of his age set. After a number of years in Maasailand, he decided to sell half of his herd and move to the city where he could record. As you can hear on Jitolee and oYA oYA, his Maasai heritage is not forgotten.
