About Me

Day on the Hill has been a KU and Lawrence tradition since the 1980s. First and foremost, it is a celebration of great music in its many diverse forms and genres. The atmosphere is one of relaxation and appreciation, as people meander from watching artists they enjoy, to playing Frisbee in an adjacent lawn.Day on the Hill started small, with headlining acts such as Too Much Joy and Toad the Wet Sprocket. People came out during the day to enjoy the outdoors and new spring weather, with great music as their background. Then, in 1992, SUA booked a little known act named Pearl Jam for $3000 at just the right time. Pearl Jam blew up right around the time of the show, and expectations have been high for Day on the Hill ever since. Over the next few years, notable headliners have been Gin Blossoms, Fastball, They Might be Giants, and Son Venezuela. After 2002, Day on the Hill took a 4-year hiatus. In 2006, SUA brought Day on the Hill back and made it a success once again with Spoon and Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings as the main acts. Now, in 2007, SUA continues to improve this tradition by providing excellent, diverse talent based upon the interests of KU students. We hope you visit the Day on the Hill website at www.suadoth.com for further information.
