Introduced to hip-hop at a young age ill-ceey quickly embraced the art form and quickly became part of two hip-hop groups called The Genesis and Children of Light in his early teen years, which made tapes and performed in and around the city of Harare.
Since 2004 ill-ceey has been taking the underground hip-hop scene in Zimbabwe by storm, releasing two mixtapes "The Introduction", "Jesus Raps Mixtape" and two albums "My Story" (available online) and recently just released "The Redefinition". Though still in its early stages of growth in Zimbabwe, ill-ceey had set out to define hip-hop as a positive tool used for expression and not for greed. Performing at functions ranging from beauty pageants (miss Harare junior), concerts (the grind, bring it on, Jesus jump off, living on the edge, Harare International Festival of the Arts, The Unseen Movement), conferences and camps (watchmen united conference, youth encounter camps) and more, ill-ceey has not put a stop to taking this message to the those that really need to hear it. Ill-ceey has also featured on a track with Zimbabwe's 2007 pop idols winner and along side other hip-hop artists in the country. Ill-ceey not only takes on the role of an emcee but he also produces tracks for himself and other artists which makes him a well-rounded musician.
Lastly ill-ceey's major influence in his music is his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. This is what keeps him focused on obtaining his goal and not giving up or giving in to the negative voices around him. His music will speak for itself... remember to watch this space.
