Ramp Chicago: Second Tuesdays at Sonotheque

About Me

Ramp Chicago is held on the second Tuesday of each month at Sonotheque
NOTE FOR PROSPECTIVE ARTISTS
Here's the down-low on the whole playing Ramp Chicago thing:

1) We can't help with booking at Sonotheque in general, only specifically for our night (which is the second Tuesday of each month)

2) We're mostly looking for solo/laptop artists. Bands that cross over into electronic music are a possibility

3) Mostly we're looking for established artists for our headliners: examples include Tycho, Arctic Hosptal, Proswell, He Can Jog, Machine Drum. We are however looking for local talent to support the night: DJ's and local electronic live PA's. Local producers are welcome to spin instead of playing live if that feels right.

4) It's good to come out to one of the nights and get a sense for what we do, and if you'd be a good fit. We're walking a line between music for at home on your headphones and music for the dancefloor. We particularly like IDM, electro, ambient, microhouse, indie/electronic crossover stuff (but see 2), but we're usually game for anything electronic.

5) If you're still interested the BEST way to get hooked up with a night is to come out to the next Ramp event and say hi to Nathan (Emulsion) and Liz (Quantazelle) - give us CD's (it's fine if it's a CD-R demo) and hear the vibe of the night.

6) If you can't make it out to say hi, we can also take demos at:
Ramp Chicago
5315 N. Clark St. 307
Chicago, IL 60640
However it definitely would be way cooler to meet you in person at the night.

7) We're trying to be careful to shape each night to have a particular vibe and sound. Sometimes we'll contrast artists but don't be surprised if we say "This is really cool, but we're going to have to wait until the right headliner comes along."

8) For any future online correspondence email [email protected] - myspace messaging is pretty unreliable and for anything as time-sensitive as booking/arranging a show it's strongly recommended to email. We check our Myspace messages about every two weeks to a month, but the email account every day.

Tycho show was outstanding

He had this amazing synergy between design and music, and the set was just so loud and crisp but with beautiful dynamics. Amazing crowd too, our best so far and the start of some higher profile artist...
