interesting people. And in my experience, the most interesting people are the most interested: in life, in culture, in politics, in whatever's going on around them.
Too many groups and genres to list. According to my iTunes music blog , my favorite genres include rock , alternative , pop , movies & theater , jazz and the odd classical recording . Or maybe I just like writing about them.
I'm something of a throwback; as movies get bigger and more explosive, I long for the comedies and romances of yesteryear. Favorites include Ball of Fire ( Barbara Stanwyck as Snow White and Gary Cooper as one of seven professorial dwarves); Bogart as Sam Spade , Philip Marlowe or Rick Blaine ; The Shop Around The Corner (the basis for You've Got Mail , only funny). Grew up with Connery as Bond , although Daniel Craig 's my new idea of who Bond was meant to be . And I'm a huge fan of Sean Bean in the Sharpe's Rifles films. What a Bond he'd have made! (Yeah, the Sharpes were made for TV. And yeah, they have their share of explosions. Sue me.)
Heroes , Psych , How I Met Your Mother , The Daily Show , The Soup , Mythbusters , Moral Orel , Farscape (Especially Farscape . It's a sickness.)
Lots of mysteries, especially those by my friend Barry Eisler , but also travel writing ( Bill Bryson 's a favorite) and more than a few children's writers. Some people refuse to grow up, y'know?
Great communicators: people like James Burke , Carl Sagan and Isaac Asimov . Honest and ethical polticians, assuming I can find any.
