Puerto Rican born singer/actress who became internationally famous due to her well-endowed figure. Always causing a sensation wherever she visited, Chacon's variety show, "The Iris Chacon Show/El Show de Iris Chacon" was a hit in over 15 countries during its height in the 1970's and 1980's. Presently residing in Florida, Chacon does frequent radio and television work in the United States and Puerto Rico.Iris Chacón was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. At an early age she demonstrated her inclination for the arts when she began studies in ballet and jazz. She continued her education and attended the University of Puerto Rico. Later, as a vegetarian, she became a doctor in the natural medicine. As a young collage student, she began her professional career in television as a model and dancer. She continued her voice and dancing lessons and after a careful preparation, was launched as a "Vedette", a term used in Europe to define a multitalented performer. Actress, dancer and singer, this complete artist was the first Hispanic entertainer to ever appear on the front page of the prestigious "Wall Street Journal". With her own television show. "The Iris Chacón Show", she conquered not only her native Puerto Rico audience, but the top ratings on prime time television for over fifteen years in other markets suck as New York, Miami, Chicago, California, Dominican Republic and all over central and south America. "La Chacón" became more popular among "Latinos" then football among Americans. Her singing talent as well as very peculiar style, gave her two "Gold Record Awards" out of her eight LP's "La Chacón", as her fans call her, was the first Latin act ever presented in the famous "Radio City Music Hall" in New York, with sold-out performances for three years in a row. She has also performed at "The Madison Square Garden", "The Resorts International Hotel" in Atlantic City and many other venues where they adored her. "The Caribbean Queen" has been invited to the David Letterman Show, The Merv Griffin Show, The Late Show, On Stage America, The Morning Show, Playboy on The Scene, Geraldo Rivera, in the Joan Rivers Show as one of the world four top tv hostesses and several others. She has also been the issue for many articles in important publications like The Daily News, The Face, Interview, and cover articles for GQ, Cosmopolitan, The Village Voice, The New York Times, Latina Magazine and People en Español, among others. Since 1998 she has hosted her own radio program, "Iris Chacón Live", in Orlando Florida, a program geared towards beauty, health, fitness and nutrition. As a public speaker on fitness and nutrition, Iris has traveled all over the states and Latin America. She finished her third season with Gullah Gullah Island, a children television series at "Nickelodeon's" television network, where she played a bilingual mother in this children's hit series. Being involved with several non profit organizations, Iris travels extensively supporting special events for these groups in need. Recently, she starred a ten episode mini-series in Puerto Rico, "La Señorita Ana", a musical drama where she portrays a rich performer, retired after her husband's sudden death, and now founder of a special school of arts and music, where she deals with all ups and downs of young students trying to make it in the real world. Chacón starred in two spanish motion pictures, both musical comedies; "Eva, What is This Man Doing in Your Bed", "A women is a good investment"' and the Italian American Production "An East Side Story". Also, some of her television programs footage was used in Madonna's "Desperately Seeking Susan" Movie. Iris also starred in four spanish soap operas that aired successfully in Puerto Rico, Latin America and the United States.
