I'm the singer for Crescent Shield, a traditional heavy metal band. Check us out at www.crescentshield.com :) I have loved Heavy Metal all my life. Ever since I was five years old when I first heard Paul Stanley belt out the first few lines of "Detroit Rock City", I immediately thought, THAT IS FOR ME! As I grew, I discovered the classics: Priest, Sabbath, Rush, Iron Maiden, Dio and some non-metal bands with great singers: Boston, Kansas, Styx and Deep Purple. As a MetalHead, I've found that it is better to explore the great seas and oceans of styles and while I do love all types of metal (including thrash, glam, a bit o' death, prog and grand theatrical), I feel that my favorite bands are ones that are vocal-oriented. believe me, I LOVE great musicianship and guitar riffs, but when ya boil it down, it's the memorable singers who have taught me to become the vocalist I am today. If I were to name my four main influences, they would have to be Ronnie James Dio (for passion and lyrical poetry), Warrel Dane (his baritone is one I can really relate to), Ray Alder (whose tone is unmatched) and Bobby Blitz (he's just absolutely incredible on stage). And I of course have the greatest respect for Halford, Dickinson, Tate (plus that 'guy' from Lost Horizon) and all those whose voices can reach the stars, but I can't list them as direct influences because I just can't hit that "Victim of Changes" scream.
