A Work In Progress

About Me

I just tried to update this - but forgot the whole "save changes" part. Computers never cease to confound me. One may wonder how this is true after nearly years and years in school , but alas, it is the sad truth - it never changes. Other things do change tho. Since the beginning of this year I have had three jobs, lived in three different places, and gone back to school. Come next May I'll do what I swore I never would 6 years ago - I'll return to my hometown for 15 months to complete another degree (because the last one turned out to be so useful!) this time in nursing. I am starting to question the sanity of enduring another Minnesota winter after the last couple weeks of snow and ice in Seattle, but with a butt heater installed in my car's seat I should be fine (any chance they make those for bicycle's too?). Free time is pretty rare, but I sacrifice sleep or studying to visit with friends - needless to say I am never bored. I go to school full time and work full time on the weekends in social services. I have resumed my position as a professional insomniac - things have changed a lot in only a year and I look forward to the next.

My Interests

Didn't I already do this? Hiking, backpacking, berry picking (for myself), biking, ultimate frisbee, walking in the rain, reading, drawing (badly), poi and other fire performance, music, swimming, movies, knitting hats during bouts of insomnia, misspelling lots and lots of words - more and more the longer I am awake :-p

I'd like to meet:

Mostly I'm trying to remedy my dismal skills at "keeping in touch". I'm always up for random conversations tho.

Music:

In my car right now: Fugazi, Matisyahu, Metric, Trapt, Sarah McLachlan, Nikola Sarcevic, She Wants Revenge, The Cure, Placebo

Movies:

Recent: Transamerica, Proof, X3, Beyond Rangoon, The Family Stone, Syriana, Akeelah and the Bee, The IllusionistLess Recent: The Last Supper, Home for the Holidays, Harold and Maude, Saved, Shrek, To Kill a Mockingbird, Bend it Like Beckham, About a Boy, Eulogy

Television:

So now I don't have any TV again and rely on downloading episodes of the shows I watch. CSI, Alias, ER, Buffy (hangs head), One Tree Hill (and again), Law and Order, Grey's Anatomy, Six Feet Under, the Today Show, John Stewart - and lately I've been on a West Wing kick

Books:

The Red Tent, The God of Small Things, Lies My Teacher Told Me, Harry Potter, Ishmael, The Way of the Peacful Warrior, Siddartha, I Heard the Owl Call my Name, The Alchemist, The House of Spirits, The Last of the Mohicans, the Chronicles of Narnia, The Mists of Avalon, Fahrenheit 451...and a lot of other stuff. Soon I'll ramble about all my summer books in a blog.

Heroes:

I'll let you know

Biblical Storm

So, the weather is frankly nuts right now. All afternoon I keep asking myself, "am I conscious?". I had class at 6pm and was in Kent, so I left at 3pm thinking I'd have time to spare - finishing hol...

Bodily Fluid Clean-Up Bitch

Can you tell what I spent my weekend doing?  Just by coincidence, every small human and animal I know seemed to call on me to clean-up after his/her body leakage.  The vast majority of this ...

Untitled Randomness I....

So, this is the first edition of untitled randomness...there is much more in the future and it has a tendency to increase in randomness as I get more tired.   Here is my question of the eve...

In the beginning....

So, I've finally joined the band wagon. I've been resisting this online thing for so long...cuz really, what would I actually want to share with anyone and everyone. However, I'm terrible at staying ...
