I remember liking Watership Down a lot when I was little. More recently (but still not very recent), Paul Bowles- The Sheltering Sky. Hemingway- The Sun Also Rises, A Moveable Feast. Fitzgerald- The Beautiful and the Damned. Philip K. Dick- everything, esp; The Man In The High Castle, A Scanner Darkly, V.A.L.I.S.. Haruki Murakami- The Windup Bird Chronicle, Kazuo Ishiguro- The Remains of the Day, The Unconsoled. Jonathan Franzen- The Corrections. Thomas Pynchon- V. Kurt Vonnegut, the usual stuff. J.D. Salinger, everything. Jonathan Lethem- Fortress of Solitude. Douglas Coupland- Generation X, etc., Henry Miller- Tropic of Cancer!!!! Dave Eggers- AHWOSG. Graham Greene- The Ugly American. Umberto Eco- Foucalt's Pendulum. John Fowles- The Magus. Non-fiction; Douglas Hofstadter- Goedel, Escher, Bach. Seems like now that I have a subscription to the New Yorker, I don't read as many books. It is sad. But the magazine is so good.. update: seems like now I have little kids running around, I don't even read the magazine. it looks nice on the coffee table though.
