Alain de Saracho’s passion for music began at a young age. From age 13 to 18 he spent most of his time recording and playing live shows with different rock bands. Through the course of his early exposure to music, he became quite proficient in guitar, bass, drums, percussions, and vocals. It was only until his brush with European house and progressive music that he became interested in the digital world. He described himself as being blown away with his first listen to Steve Lawler’s Dark Drums III. “Never had I heard such an innovative and creative sound come out of dance music”, Alain declares. Using Lawler as a reference point, Alain’s first sound was dark and progressive tribal house. Alain shortly moved to LA in search of further inspirations. After a year of spinning dark tribal beats in underground parties in LA, Alain was convinced that his next natural step would be the birthplace of dance music, Europe; His destination, Barcelona, Spain.

It didn’t take long for Alain to realize how advanced the electronic scene was in this city; he quickly worked to adjust his sound and grow as a dj. At this time electro house and minimal techno were taking over the Iberian tribal-progressive sound. The best way to keep up with these fast pace changes was to buy new records constantly, which becomes very expensive; so Alain set out to work at a record shop in hopes of receiving loads of music without the high costs. He caught his break at a well recognized record shop called Codigo Records. It was there that Alain began his relationship with local djs, promoters, and clubs. Within a few months he was part of the local circuit playing at clubs such as: Sidecar, Macarena, and City Hall. At this time Alain began having close ties to a local record label, Funkdango Records, and was featured at some of their events. There sound was more of a 20/20 Vision, Get Physical electronic sound, which began to influence Alain.

With his local following growing, Alain was confronted by a promoter from Pamplona which invited him to spin at one of his Techno events. He accepted, although techno wasn’t his forte. The Pamplona underground techno scene excited Alain. This was a sound he was not familiar with coming from San Diego were it was practically non existent. He began to pick up on the sound playing a few underground raves here in there with artists of the likes of Marco Carola.

After a two year stretch in Europe, Alain decided it was time to bring back to San Diego all he had acquired in his stay. On arrival, he recognized the bordering city, Tijuana Mexico, scene was advancing at a great pace and decided to focus his energy there. From his first show in Tijuana, he knew this was the scene he was looking for. Shortly after Alain decided to put together his own production company called Avant Garde, which has featured artists such as Jimmy Van M, Lee Burridge, and Nic Fanciulli.

With time Alain has managed to make a name for himself by playing Baja California’s biggest shows on a regular including opening for Benny Benassi amoung others; as well as residencies in San Diego’s Modus, Sin, Red Circle, and Tijuana’s Tangaloo and Oxygen Club. His fresh dj sets have caught the interest of such name brands as Maxim Magazine, G-Star Clothing, Nostika Magazine, and Italian brand Baci & Abracci. Currently Alain has joined with underground Legend Barry Weaver to bring such great talent to San Diego as Jesse Rose, Audiofly, Claude Von Stroke, Deadmau5, and many more….. He’s presently touring around Mexico and will shortly tour Europe. With upcoming releases on Digital Records label, Polifonik Records, and his flyer miles steadily building, you can expect to hear a lot more from this up and coming dj in the near future.
