Black Trident Sound was founded in 1992 by two brothers, with a love of reggae music, from two different sides of the genre. Billy was a party goer and just loved music. Bear (a.k.a Supa) was a lover of the clash element. When they moved to Brooklyn from their native Barbados, their exposure greatened.
Billy hit the 90's NYC party scene HARD. From the Underground to Bentleys; Biltmore to Club Legend and more. There he met and was inspired by the likes of Sting International, Road International and more. And Billy decided "We could do this".
Armed by a few records (two crates, LOL) and makeshift equipment they tackled their first gig, a birthday party. Then, an after prom party for a Brooklyn high school. Knowing they could do better, Bear and Billy created an alliance of sorts with a nearby Bajan sound, now defunct, called Matic. They played the local circuit alongside Web International, Silver Star and others. It was here they met and recruited Dj Capri from (Riddim Force).
Black Trident has played in clubs and halls throughout NYC, NJ, SC, OK, MA and Barbados. Many members have come and gone, but the newest (The New Face of BT) are Wu (formerly of Blazin' U int'l) who started playing around with Djing as fun but came to love it and wanted to do it on a new level .Billy saw that Wu had a love of music and kept his eyes open when they meet many years ago and throught fate Wu started Djing.Billy recruited Wu to BT and has been teaching him the business. Brad joined the sound in 2006 and has brought wealth of knowledge of music to the sound and has been honing his skills as an MC(mic man/selecter).
They have enterained at many functions for dignitaries and civic groups including the Consular General of Barbados, Barbados Ex- Policeman's Association, Barbados Nurse's Association and The Young Barbadian Professionals.
They have also graced many college stage shows and stage shows for larger audiences. Black Trident has DJ'ed for Cham, Tonto Metro and Devonte, Assassin, Spragga Benz, Turbolence, Fanton Mojah, Vegas, Lexxus, Makka Diamond and Lady Saw to name a few. On the soca side Black Trident has worked with Rupee, Timmy, Alison Hinds, Edwin Yearwood and Krosfyah, Mr. Dale, Barry Chandler and Jabae, Natalie Burke and Kevin Lytle to name a "few"
On the soca tip, they have played stage shows featuring Krosfyah, Square One, Asylum Band, Rupee, Burning Flames, Timmy, Iwer George, Sherwayne Winchester and MADD.
Their most stellar achievement to date is that of co-producers of the Exodus Mas Labour Day Band for 2005 & 2006. Look out for more to come.<
