WORKING CLASS DOGS- A TRIBUTE TO RICK SPRINGFIELD

Rick Springfield is truly a Rock/Pop Icon on many fronts and avenues. After a bout with teen idolism and the soap opera front, Rick is still out there in his 50's still playing with passion, vigor and more charisma than half the new bands put together on a good night, half his age. We didn't want to get into tributes as a Record label doing all originals, but when we discussed tributes and if we did do it, who would be the most influential bands or solo performer to tribulize?....Rick Springfield right away sprung to mind, since I have always felt the man never got the street cred/props he rightfully deserved as a very talented songwriter/musician. After spending hours of research and just growing up on his music alone, I uncovered alot more than I bargained for. From his humble start in Australia, Rick seemed to be plagued by numerous set-backs that would keep him held down until coming to America.

After coming to America and packaged as a contrived 'Teen Idol' Rick never knew what he was headed for. After a few releases and a failed cartoon series (which did run for 2 years) Rick took a hiatus of sorts, before coming back with his multi-platinum 'Working Class Dog' which ear-marked his arrival onto commercial radio as well as MTV and the video world. Most people thought Rick was a overnight success and had no idea of his sorted, musical past. This was far from the truth as Rick finally made it into mainstream as a viable commodity. Many transformations later, this Grammy award winning Artist repackaged himself into the 21st Century and still plays a grueling tour schedule. He also has returned to the Soap Opera that helped him launch his career in the early 80's...General Hospital as Dr. Noah Drake.

FastLane Records are honored to release our personal tribute to Rick Springfield, aptly titled 'Working Class Dogs'...upon putting this tribute together we assembled the best Artists/musicians that could interpet Rick's music/vision and keep the vibe of the original classics while infusing them with their own touch and bringing them into the modern day as if Rick just recorded them today. We hope you enjoy this tribute as alot of hard work has went into this project as it really is/was a labor of love with partial proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.

*Artists include American Anthem, Tom Cinefro, Failing Grace, The Threads, Handsome Devil, American Heartbreak, The Vague and more to be announced*
