We are Lavish Larrys. We do gigs. Nothing but pure rock n roll grime in a small boozer in Reading, The Red Lion. Only the best local unsigned bands will be put on show for your ear's listening pleasure. The Red Lion is situated on Southampton street (nr Oracle roundabout) and is a mere 5 minute walk to the purple turtle and a 2 minute stroll to the afterdark.
Lavish Larrys started about a year ago, at the Horse and Jockey with a night called 'Now thats what i call ... Lavish' and the night soon passed into legend with every show selling out, packed to the rafters. People were crying in the street, because they couldnt get in.We made some good friends, we learnt some valuable lessons and then disregarded them, had a few too many beers, saw grown men fighting in the street but most importantly, had all of Readings top acts play for us such as Wire Jesus, Vices, Ben Marwood, The Circus Sands, My Luminaries and Lavish Larrys personal favourite, Somebodys Mind.Lavish Larry is all about pure energy rock n roll sex while smashed on junk.We moved on from the Horse and Jockey and put some successful accoustic nights at the Global Cafe (The Lavish Lounge) in conjunction with Billy Braggs 'Jail Guitar Doors' campaign to provide inmates with musical instruments and a couple of nights at south streets arts centre, where we packed it out for a two night extravaganza
The time has come to start a new, fortnightly band night called CHIVALRY IS DEAD! at the newest and bestest pub in reading and are currently booking acts, so if you wanna get a piece of what will become the next biggest smallest gig, get in touch. Our e-mail is below:
